All eyes are on Trump and who he is going to choose to fill the cabinet for his second term, as his initial foreign policy picks consist of Israel fanatic Elise Stefanik for UN Ambassador and China/Iran Hawk Mike Waltz for National Security Adviser.

Journalist Garland Nixon noted that the most important pick for Trump will be his Secretary of State. While the NY Times is citing anonymous sources and reporting that Marco Rubio has the job, that has yet to confirmed by Trump himself.

The Kremlin was quick to deny the Washington Post report that Trump and Putin talked on the phone last week, calling it “pure fiction.” This, after the Post cited anonymous sources who claimed Trump warned Putin “not to escalate the war in Ukraine and reminded him of Washington’s sizable military presence in Europe.” (Sure, Jan)

While Trump may not be talking to Putin yet, he has apparently shared three phone calls with Netanyahu, with the Israeli prime minister claiming he and Trump see “eye-to-eye on the Iranian threat.”

According to the FBI, that so-called “threat” from Iran is aimed directly at Trump, but their claims of “assassination plots” against him seem to include more holes than actual facts.

Both Trump and Putin have indicated that they are open to dialogue with one another, after four years of the U.S. avoiding direct talks with Russia under the Biden Admin. But while Trump has vowed to end the war in Ukraine in 24 hours, the Kremlin has made it clear that Putin's demands aren’t changing just because there is a new president in Washington.

Independent Journalist Michael Tracey noted that tensions between the U.S. and Russia soared during Trump's first term, and anyone who is expecting major changes in a Trump Admin foreign policy needs to keep in mind that his shortlist for cabinet picks reportedly includes Mike Pompeo and Marco Rubio (two neocons who never met a war they didn't like)

One of Trump’s most outspoken campaign promises is that he will end the war in Ukraine. When it comes to the question of how he plans to do that, anonymous insiders from the Trump team are claiming the goal is to “freeze” the conflict, with guarantees for Russia that Kiev won’t join NATO for 20 years, while the West uses the break in fighting to freely arm Ukraine.

International Relations and Security Analyst Mark Sleboda noted that if the Trump Admin goes with a plan like the ones being suggested in the media right now, it would be a non-starter for Moscow AND for Kiev. Not only are the demands not beneficial for Russia, but they ignore the fact that Russia is currently winning this war of attrition and making significant advances in the Donbass.

We are one day away from Election Day here in the U.S. and Trump's campaign appears to be making a last-ditch effort for the Arab American vote, as he visited Dearborn, Michigan, over the weekend and vowed that if elected, "You're going to have peace in the Middle East."

Lebanese Activist and Entrepreneur Hassan Chami noted that while both Trump and Harris are saying what they think Americans want to hear, many voters are either voting for a third-party candidate like Dr. Jill Stein, or not voting at all, because they believe that especially when it comes to U.S. support for Israel in its genocide of the Palestinians, nothing will fundamentally change under the two-party duopoly.

Iran's Supreme Leader is now warning both Israel and the U.S. that Tehran will deliver "a crushing response," more than a week after Israel's attack on Iranian soil, as Israel continues its bombardment of civilians from Gaza to Lebanon.

Meanwhile, the Pentagon announced plans for several B-52 Stratofortress bomber aircraft, a squadron of fighter jets, tanker aircraft and Navy destroyers to deploy to the Middle East, claiming the goal was "to meet evolving national security threats." – because apparently, our "national security" includes the Middle East.

Iranian officials are signaling that Tehran is preparing its retaliation for Israel's attack on Iranian military sites last week, with the spokesman for the Iranian Foreign Ministry noting that they will "use all available tools" to respond, and the head of the IRGC vowing, "We will give an unimaginable response to the enemy."

Prof. Seyed Mohammad Marandi, of the University of Tehran, noted that while Israel's attack on Iran inflicted limited damage, he believes "it’s been decided that Iran will strike the Israeli regime," because for the Iranians, "what is more important was that this was an act of aggression, and therefore the country has to respond, because if it does not respond, then that will only encourage the Israeli regime to carry out further threats."

While the Pentagon claimed Israel's attack "should be the end of this tit-for-tat" with Iran, Prof. Marandi argued that this is an indicator that Washington does not see Israel's attack as "successful," and that if Israel had been able to seriously harm Iran then, "I don’t think the Americans would want this exchange to end."
