  • Episode 15: Self Help Books, Enneagrams, and Riffs on Life.

    Hi!

We are Lara, and Sarah. We are the hosts of Radically Thriving. We also hang out on Instagram @dynamicdoulasoflondon, and @radicallythriving. This podcast is best consumed along side a cup of coffee, or on a long walk by yourself.

We are moms, coffee and kombucha lovers, health nuts, doulas, friends, and on this journey to not just survive but to THRIVE.

There is so much available to us in this life, and the auto pilot for motherhood is martyrdom. We are trying to move through the mom guilt, the childhood patterns that were demonstrated to us, and we do that by only offended 1/10 listeners per week.

    ON TODAY'S EPISODE:

We realized midway through our workday we didn't have a podcast recorded for Monday! Just a glimpse as to where our heads are at lately.

Its been a rough week, Lara is in a month long seeming luteal phase, and we've had some emotional experiences this week that have given us time for pause, and reflection. All incredible learning experiences, we never proclaim to be perfect.

We yammer on today about self help books - really mostly just one "The Four Agreements" by which Lara lives by as often as she can.

We talk about some wisdom we've accumulated over our lives, and our newest fave saying 'Marinate in the Mediocre'.

We would love if you screen shot and share your fave take away's from the episode!!

    On TODAY's episode;

We interview a mutual friend. We have known and loved Laura for many years now. She is one of the most unapologetic people I know. I admire her commitment to motherhood, her hard working nature and her ability to ALWAYS have a great time.

Listen in to hear about how she came to be someone who chose home birth without a second thought, how she balances sex, relationship, self care and bed sharing, and we even touch on female pleasure! We GO there today!

Its a long one, its explicit, and its SO good!

Laura also sells Monat, and you can find her @laurasoetemans on instagram

    ON TODAYS EPISODE

We talk to Britt Havens and her husband Zach. Britt and Zach have 4 children, and they just had their first home birth.

Britt talks about her prior birth experiences, what led her to choosing the home birth route. She went from a "Hard no" to a "hell yes" on home birth, and we think their story is incredibly valuable to hear!

Britt also touches what it is like as an 'influencer' and talking about home birth. She found talking about home birth on social media before the event didn't feel safe, or supportive. She needed to keep her boundaries strong. After the fact though people have been very kind and thoughtful with their words.

Britt and Zach are super engaging and chat at lengths about how it brought them closer as a couple to go through this experience together. They describe what midwifery care is like, how it was having a doula (Sarah) present, and also go into Britt's story around her epidural puncture headache (note: not a normal headache, this sounds INTENSE).

  • Episode 8: body image, body changes, postpartum bodies, diet culture, and keto poops

Today's episode we talk about our high school body image journeys, our diet history, and where we are at today. We are by no means experts, we are works in progress and try to represent the norms for women. Our intention was not to shame, or make anyone feel like their body isn't perfection as is, but to shine a light on the fact that we are all growing emotionally. It is a process.

What we want to focus on is how our bodies feel. Nourishing your body with quality food, movement, sunlight, and hydration MATTERS.

We talk about Eat by Design a concept brought to us by our chiropractors.

We talk about Keto, Weight Watchers, South Beach, Herbal Magic, and all the fads we have followed.

We touch on post partum body thoughts, where we were before kids, between kids, and now after.
