The SA Council of Churches has warned that if the ongoing violent protests at Universities are not addressed things will get out of hand and call for a state of emergency. The SACC is appealing to all religious groups to come together and help stop violence during Fees Must Fall protests at tertiary institutions. The council has proposed the establishment of a reference group - comprised of different religious groups , to create space for peaceful dialogue between students, parents and university management. Residents of Bolotwa village outside Ngqeleni in the Eastern Cape are up in arms following brutal murders and rape of women in their area. They say they've been living in fear as they were allegedly terrorised by a 24 year-old suspect for the past two and a half years. Residents travelled in numbers to a local magistrate court where the alleged rape and murder suspect appeared briefly for the crimes. His case has been postponed until the 3rd of November. Corruption watch says it will be laying criminal charges against South African Revenue Service Commissioner Tom Moyane for his alleged failure to report two senior employees accused of financial irregularities to the Directorate of Priority Crime Investigation.
