He paid a visit to the Ruiters family whose two-year-old daughter was killed when a stray bullet hit her in their yard in Helenvale. The EFF leader, Julius Malema, says if his party wins the Cape Town Metro, it will expropriate land without compensation. He was addressing party members in a packed Gugulethu Sport Complex on the Cape Flats. Malema says they are willing to test the Constitution in court regarding the land issue. He says that taking over Cape Town after the Local Government elections in August, is his party's priority. Zalene Merrington reports

Schooling is today ( Monday 16/05/16) expected to resume in over one hundred schools in Vuwani and surrounding villages in Limpopo. Residents have been protesting against the inclusion of their areas into a new municipality. The violent protest action has left twenty schools gutted and vandalised. The Presidency has dismissed reports that Finance Minister Pravin Gordhan faces an imminent arrest. The Sunday Times newspaper has reported that the Hawks want Gordhan to be charged of "espionage" in a case related to the activities of the SA Revenue Service's so-called "rogue unit". The Tshiko-nelo royal council will appeal a high court decision giving the demarcation board the green light to establish a new municipality in the Vhembe district in Limpopo. The new municipality is to include Vuwani and surrounding villages. The council is part of those who lost the bid to have the high court reverse the board's decision. Deputy President Cyril Ramaphosa has urged investors attending the World Economic Forum in Kigali, Rwanda to invest in South Africa's infrastructure.
