The taxi strike in Durban is set to continue as taxi bosses and Government officials failed to reach an agreement in a meeting which lasted late into yesterday evening(Wednesday). Taxi operators in the city downed tools on Monday leaving thousands of commuters stranded. They demand that hundreds of their mini-buses impounded by the municipality be released. However, the municipality isn't prepared to release the vehicles. Political parties have also weighed-in on the strike. Mbuso Mkhize reports

As many as 11-million Volkswagen vehicles may be recalled globally. Political parties in Parliament say the decision to establish a board of inquiry to determine the fitness of National Police Commissioner Riah Phiyega to hold office, was long overdue. The announcement by the Presidency of a board of inquiry into Phiyega's fitness to hold office follows recommendations by the Farlam commission that looked into the deaths of 44 people, 34 of them miners, at Marikana in 2012.
