A Danish national has been remanded in custody in Bloemfontein in the Free State after police found female genitalia in his freezer. The 63-year-old man, Peter Frederiksen, faces five charges including sexual assault and removal of human organs. Police are also investigating possible cases against him in Lesotho and Denmark. The Congress of South Africa Trade Unions - COSATU - has called on workers to rally behind its campaign to put pressure on government and the private sector to create more jobs. Cosatu General Secretary Bheki Ntshalintshali addressed the KwaZulu-Natal Shopstewards Council at the Durban City Hall. The labour federation is mobilizing workers against retrenchments, proposed VAT increases and lack of efficient public transport - among other issues. Learning and teaching has been disrupted at a farm school in Piet Retief in Mpumalanga since July, due to lack of scholar transport. About 190 learners at the Nokuthula Primary School were unable to attend classes because their transport was allegedly cancelled by the Department of Public Works, Roads and Transport. A man suspected of being part of a notorious gang terrorising communities has been attacked and necklaced by angry residents of Etwatwa near Daveyton on Gauteng's East Rand. The Supreme Court of Appeal in Bloemfontein will hear an appeal today against a Western Cape Town High Court judgment ordering that SABC Chief Operating Officer Hlaudi Motsoeneng be suspended and disciplinary steps be taken against him. The Democratic Alliance went to the High Court to enforce the remedial action proposed by Public Protector Thuli Madonsela that disciplinary steps be taken against Motsoeneng. Western Cape Town High Court Judge Ashton Schippers found that Madonsela's findings were not binding and enforceable. However, they also could not be ignored but must be properly considered.
