Yolande Korkie, the wife of Pierre Korkie who was killed in Yemen in 2014, has added her voice to the campaign, urging South Africans to assist in providing humanitarian aid for the people of Yemen. In what analysts have labelled a dovish statement, the U.S. Federal Reserve has left interest rates unchanged for nearly a decade now. Economists say the Fed is caught between a rock and a hard place, especially with a strong dollar which also a reserve currency. Dimakatso Leshoro reports..

KwaZulu-Natal Premier Senzo Mchunu says he was suspected in the murder of his bodyguard who was gunned down in July. Mchunu revealed this during an address at the Provincial POPCRU congress in Durban. 24-year-old Xolani Nkosi was murdered in his car at Empangeni. Plans are underway to move over four-thousand inmates, including juveniles and those awaiting trial, from Pollsmoor Correctional Facility in Cape Town to other facilities in the Western Cape. The Department of Home Affairs has pleaded with the Constitutional Court to reconsider a decision to dismiss its appeal regarding an office for refugees. The appeal relates to the decision to close down the Refugee Reception Office in Port Elizabeth. The Constitutional Court's refusal to hear the appeal means the Department has three months within which to re-open the office. This was the order of the Supreme Court of Appeal which also has implications for the Cape Town office which was also been closed down. Senior Constitutional Court Reporter, Candice Nolan reports.

L:Justice and Correctional Services Minister Michael Masutha says he is in the process of finalizing parole recommendations of more than 33 political prisoners requesting pardon for politically motivated crimes. There have been mixed reaction from some of the political parties to the recommendation to release 33 prisoners jailed for politically linked crimes on parole. The National Council of Correctional Services has recommended parole for 33 qualifying prisoners. Correctional Services and Justice Minister Michael Masutha says he will consider their records before deciding whether to approve the recommendations. While welcoming this development, the IFP and the PAC are demanding engagement on the process to ensure the release of all the political prisoners that are still in the country's jails. Five people were killed at KwaMashu Hostel, north of Durban. A group of five people allegedly opened fire, killing four on the spot, while another died on the way to hospital. The fifth person believed to be one of the suspects was found dead with a 9mm pistol next to him. It's not clear who shot him. Fanele Mhlongo reports
