Traffic is expected to increase on major roads across the country from today ahead of the Easter weekend. Accepting defeat the outgoing president, Goodluck Jonathan, asked those unhappy with the result, to respect the constitutional process. Incoming Nigerian President, Mohammadu Buhari has commended Jonathan for conceding defeat. Buhari has called on Nigerians to put emotions aside and become one nation after a gruelling election campaign. Eskom's newly appointed acting chairperson, Ben Ngubane, has denied that his appointment was a political one. Ngubane was appointed after Zola Tsotsi agreed to step down as chairperson of the beleagured power utility's board. In the past month, Eskom CEO Tshediso Matona, and three executives were suspended and now Tsotsi has resigned leaving a leadership vacuum at the utility. Ngubane's reputation is also being questioned. He sat on the boards of the Landbank and the SABC previously. However, Ngubane is adamant that his appointment at Eskom has nothing to do with politics

COSATU's central executive committee will decide on the fate of its embattled general secretary Zwelinzima Vavi when it holds its special meeting today. The meeting wanted to hear from Vavi why he boycotted the last meeting and his response to the forensic audit on the sale and purchase of the old and new COSATU buildings. Vavi decided to respond to the media - daring the CEC to fire him. He has extended his boycott of CEC meeting in solidarity with affiliates that have suspended their participation in COSATU in protest against NUMSA's expulsion. Eskom chairperson, Zola Tsotsi, says he is ready to make his presentation before the power utility's board at a meeting today. Eskom's board held a meeting last week in which Tsotsi's future was supposed to have been decided. The meeting was subsequently postponed to today. This followed Tsotsi's announcement of the suspension of four Eskom executives including CEO Tshediso Matona.
