Nigerians go to the polls on *tomorrow, whoever the electorate vote in has several challenges ranging from insecurity, corruption, high inflation and unemployement. One pressing need for the country's economy is electricity. Half of the country's population has no access to electricity and those who have it experience long black outs. At the moment, Africa's largest oil producer is facing an acute fuel shortage, which is crippling transport and businesses. Sandile Memela, spokesperson of the Department of Arts and Culture says the decision to remove the Rhodes statue cannot be decided by the University of Cape Town. Memela says the students are within rights to demand that the statue of Rhodes be be removed; however they as the department of Arts and Culture have received any formal request

Nigerians will be going to the polls to vote for a new president on Saturday, six weeks later than planned due to Boko Haram violence. The presidential and parliamentary polls are expected to be the most tightly contested since military rule ended in 1999. Incumbent Goodluck Jonathan, is bracing for a tight race against Muhammadu Buhari. The country has reportedly ordered the closure of all its land and sea borders ahead of this elections. Top Gear presenter Jeremy Clarkson has been fired by the BBC. It follows an altercation with a producer but was the latest in a series of controversies. The move by the BBC not to renew his soon-to-end contract has upset Top Gear fanatics around the world. But as details of his sustained physical attack on a producer emerge, the BBC felt it had no choice. And police in Yorkshire - where the incident took place - say they may investigate.
