he ANC in Gauteng has hinted at a possible cabinet reshuffle for the province following the announcement of the party's premier elect, Panyaza Lesufi. Lesufi, the current MEC for Education in the province is set to replace outgoing premier David Makhura who tendered his resignation yesterday. ANC provincial secretary, Thembinkosi Nciza says Lesufi, once elected as premier, should be afforded the space to bring his own team to head up the provincial government. First Thing is First | A new bill aimed at curbing smoking is being seen as vital to protect people from the harmful results of tobacco smoking.

The Tobacco Products and Electronic Delivery Systems Control Bill seeks to change where people can smoke and how cigarettes are packaged.

If it becomes law, indoor smoking, even at home or in a car while in the presence of a non-smoker, will be illegal.

The fate of the Macufe Festival 2022
is hanging on a balance after the Bloemfontein High Court
interdicted the festival. The judge found the awarding of the
Macufe 2022 tender to be unlawful. We now speak to the
consortium that took the Free State Arts and Culture
Department to court, Mosa Likobo who is the Director at DS
Consortium. We reached out to the Free State Department
of Arts and Culture but they haven’t responded to us.

Local governance experts say some of the service delivery programmes instituted by the ousted Johannesburg multi-party government could be abandoned or relegated. They say this is among the reasons why communities embark on service delivery protests. Last week ANC Johannesburg regional chairperson Dada Morero was elected the mayor of the City of Johannesburg following the ousting of the DA's Mpho Phalatse through a motion of no confidence vote.  Phalatse is expected to file papers in the High court in Johannesburg today to challenge the validity of the council meeting held last Friday where she was ousted through a vote of no confidence.  Tshepo Phagane reports….
