Police Minister Bheki Cele says police will take ownership of the streets away from criminals and they will be visible 24/7, especially in crime hotspots. He was addressing residents at Lower Crossroads near Gugulethu on the Cape Flats during an imbizo with community members. It remains to be seen if indeed Home Affairs Minister Malusi Gigaba will attend the Eskom State capture Inquiry happening in parliament today. Gigaba bunked parliament last week and submitted an unsigned sick note. While we are at it, there are reports that the Former SAA Board Chairperson Dudu Myeni, the Gupta brothers and Duduzane Zuma, who are central to this Eskom inquiry, won't be attending today. Chairperson of the Portfolio Committee on Public Enterprises, Zukiswa Rantho says Myeni excused herself from today's meeting sighting an illness, while the Gupta brothers, through their Attorney, said they won't be attending because they are out of the country. Forensic investigator, Paul O'Sullivan says he intends opening up murder charges against Tiger Brands for the deaths of people due to the Listeriosis outbreak. O'Sullivan, who is also the founder of a non-profit organisation called Forensics for Justice, says it is shocking that Tiger Brands, in its recent annual report, placed product quality as number nine on the list of risks facing the company, when it should have been at number one. According to the National Institute for Communicable Diseases, over 180 people have died from the Listeriosis outbreak, including babies and children under the age of 14 years old. O'Sullivan says the board of Tiger Brands should resign immediately.
