A three-day meeting of Southern African Development Community defence and security chiefs aimed at curbing rhino poaching is underway at the Kruger National Park. Former President Jacob Zuma has called on churches to pray for peaceful elections ahead of next year's general elections. Zuma joined the Covenant Fellowship Church International on the last day of the Easter Passover church service held in Esikhaleni outside Mpangeni on the northern KwaZulu-Natal. The multitudes of Zion Christian Church (ZCC) pilgrims and thousands of holiday-makers are back on the N1 south from Limpopo TODAY as the Easter weekend ends. The two ZCC churches, represented by the star or dove insignia, were in Moria for their respective Easter pilgrimages from Friday to YESTERDAY (sunday). The pilgrims, who started leaving last night, are sharing the roads with a throng of motorists who visited the province and neighbouring countries to celebrate the Easter holidays with their loved ones and families. The director or port of entry at the Department of Home Affairs, Stephen van Neel says the number of people crossing the Beit bridge border has drastically increased, with more than twenty-two thousand people having crossed into Zimbabwe at the border post in Musina in Limpopo in the last twenty-four hours. R55 road users in Laudium, west of Pretoria CBD, have been warned to avoid the road following the development of a sinkhole on Sunday morning. This is the third sinkhole to hit Pretoria recently. The road has been partialy closed as technicians and geologists assess the situation. The wall of a nearby house has also collapsed. Maluti Obuseng reports

The National Institute for Communicable Diseases (NICD) is anticipating an increase in malaria cases during the Easter holidays. The Instituted is warning travelers who will be going to high transmission areas in the country and outside, to take precautions against being bitten by mosquitoes. Despite warnings of the deadly listeriosis outbreak, some tuck shops are still selling kotas with polony. This is according to news services, Healthy Living Alliance. Listeriosis has so far killed 183 people, with fears of more possible deaths. The Eastern Cape Aids Council and the NGO responsible for HIV screening in schools, Khethimpilo have refuted allegations that they breached HIV/AIDS testing guidelines or infringed on the rights of pupils during an HIV screening of pupils in Alfonso Arries Primary School in Port Elizabeth. This emerged during a meeting attended by the council, Khethimpilo, the Basic Department of Education and parents at the school following an outcry by parents claiming there was neither parental consent nor counselling during the HIV screening. Parent also allege the status of some children who tested positive was made public during the HIV screening.
