October 17, 2017Justice Project South Africa outraged by reports of 17% vehicle licence fees hikesThe Justice Project South Africa has reacted with outrage to reports that vehicle licence fees could be hiked by up to 72 percent next year. The proposed increase has been published in a Government Gazette. The project has asked Transport Minister Joe Maswanganyi to justify the increase. According to the Gazette 72 rand will be added to all vehicle renewal fees as part of a transaction fee to be paid to the Road Traffic Management Corporation. October 16, 2017Another incident of sexual assault has been reported at a Mamelodi East School in PretoriaAnother incident of sexual assault has been reported at a Mamelodi East School in Pretoria. A17-year-old matric learner was allegedly raped by the scholar patroler in September during a matric dance event. Mahuba Valley Secondary School teachers walked in on the man during the rape. This comes after 87 Soweto pupils at AB Xuma primary were also sexually assaulted by a scholar patroller. National treasury and Parliament are also reported to have previously warned the department that any deviation from laid out procuremnt procedures would be deemed irregular.
