The DA says it will consider all avenues possible to ensure a full review of Public Protector Busisiwe Mkhwebane's fitness to hold office. This follows YESTERDAY'S resolution by Parliament's Portfolio Committee on Justice and Correctional Services that there is no basis to hold an inquiry into the fitness of the Public Protector (PP) to hold office. Last month, the DA wrote to the Speaker of the National Assembly, Baleka Mbete, requesting an investigation into the public protector's involvement into the ABSA/Bankorp bailout report. President Jacob Zuma has backtracked on his submission at the High Court in Pretoria to have former Public protector's Thuli Madonsela's State Capture report referred back to her successor, Busisiwe Mkhwebane for further investigations. The shocking revealation was made by Zuma's advocate Ishmael Semenya during closing arguments yesterday. President Zuma is challenging Madonsela's remedial action that he allow the Chief Justice to choose a judge who would head a judicial commission of inquiry into the allegations. Former Gauteng Health MEC Qedani Mahlangu has indicated her willingness to appear before the Life Esidimeni hearings as soon as she's done with her exams. Mahlangu is said to be pursuing her studies in England. Justice Dikgang Moseneke who's chairing the hearings said that he won't wrap-up proceedings until Mahlangu and two other senior officials in the Gauteng Health Department are brought-in to account for the deaths of over 140 mentally ill-patients.
