South African Airways new board is expected to be officially announced at a media briefing in Pretoria later today. Businessman JB Magwaza has been appointed as the new SAA chairperson and will replace Dudu Myeni. Myeni has been criticised for her leadership of the airline.

The newly appointed State Security Minister Bongani Bongo has vowed to hit the ground running in ensuring that the mandate entrusted to him by President Jacob Zuma and the cabinet is carried out successfully. President Zuma yesterday (wednesday) formally sworn in Bongo to the new portfolio. He is the only cabinet member who has been newly appointed in tuesday's cabinet reshuffle by President Zuma in his administration. After the formalities at Tuinhuis in parliament during the ceremony presided over by the Western Cape Judge President John Hlophe- Bongo told journalists that he will soon meet with the Director Generals of the department to get briefings

The North West town of Delareyville is on lock down, following violent service delivery protests, that rocked the area since Monday. The community gave the municipality seven days to respond to their grievances which included amongst others, the provision of basic services such as water and electricity. Residents say they have tried on numerous occasions to bring their plight to the attention of the local council but to no avail. They are now calling on Premier Supra Mahumapelo to respond to their grievances. Patrick Dintwa reports...

Former Managing Director at Life Esidimeni says they did warn the Gauteng Health Department against the speedy transfers of mentally-ill patients to unidentified NGOs. About a hundred and forty-one patients died as a result. Dr Morgan Mkhatswa says several children died in 2007, when more than 20 mentally ill children were moved to NGOs, and he did not want a repeat of that experience.
