Team South Africa has flown the country's flag high in the London's IAAF Championships which concluded last night. Caster Semenya bagged another gold in the finals of the 800m race bringing the total number of medals coming home to six. Semenya had initialy won bronze in the women's 1500m race while Wayde Van Niekerk won gold in the 400m race and silver and the silver in the 200m race. Luvo Mayonga also won gold in the long jump while Ruswahl Samaai bagged a bronze in the same event.

Social media users went on a rampage yesterday following comments by the Minister of Social Development allegedly defending Deputy Minister Mduduzi Manana's assault on women. Minister Bathabile Dlamini allegedly told one of the weekend papers that she will not call for Manana's head as he is not the only one accused of the abuse of women and that the issue was just being used as a political ploy. Meanwhile two other high profile personalities, Shaka Sisulu as well as Marks Maponyane have been found on the wrong side of the law with allegations of assaulting women. Parliament has reiterated that it is impossible to trace how individual MPs voted during this week's motion of no-confidence in President Jacob Zuma. This follows calls from some in the ANC that those who didn't follow the party line, should be identified and dealt with. Twenty-six ANC MPs voted in favour of the motion, and nine abstained. The opposition in Kenya has urged the authorities to declare its leader, Raila Odinga, the winner of Tuesday's Presidential poll. At a news conference a spokesperson from Odinga's alliance, said un-named sources within the electoral commission have told them that Odinga had gained more votes than the current president Uhuru Kenyatta.
