Four people have been killed in election-related violence following a vote in which Kenyan President Uhuru Kenyatta held a strong lead despite opposition claims of rigging. Police in Kenya fired tear-gas on Wednesday at a group of 100 chanting supporters of Opposition leader Raila Odinga in Kisumu one of Odinga's strongholds. The protests took place shortly after the NASA presidential candidate claimed the polls were rigged. This comes after the government said police would remain on high alert as the elections results are being tallied. The East African country went to the polls on Tuesday to elect a president. Roads agency Sanral says it could take as long as two days for engineers to clear debris following a bridge collapse on the N3 freeway in Germiston, east of Johannesburg. Several people were injured when the overhead pedestrian bridge collapsed onto the freeway in the early hours of Wednesday morning. Three trucks and a vehicle fell onto the bridge, with emergency services having to use the Jaws of Life to free trapped people. The N3 remains closed between the Gillooley's and Geldenhuys interchanges. Motorists trying to reach O.R. Tambo airport are advised to use the Buccleuch interchange and the R24.
