The North West Department of Health has contracted two private ambulance companies to help with emergency medical services. The companies only transport patients from one health facility to another, they say, in order to free up government ambulances for home calls. The Organisation Undoing Tax Abuse (OUTA) has come out strongly condemning death threats against former SASSA CEO Thokozani Magwaza. This follows media reports that Magwaza has been threatened out of his job which he consequently resigned from. In a statement, OUTA says it hopes the authorities will not appoint a compliant stooge who will just agree with Minister Bathabile Dlamini's original intention to have the social grants distributed at huge cost. President Jacob Zuma insists that white monopoly capital in South Africa exist- despite the ANC's decision to reject defining it a white monopoly capital but instead a monopoly capital without colour or racialising the issue. The controversial concept of "white monopoly capital" was rejected by the majority of ANC delegates at its national policy conference early this month. Delivering a Nelson Mandela Memorial lecture at Zolani sports centre in Nyanga East in the Cape Flats, organised by the ANC Youth League Dullah Omar Region last night-Zuma says those who say there is no white monopoly capital are not living in South Africa. He futher illustrated that South Africa had experience colonialism of a special type with unique features than other former colonised countries. Abongwe Kobokana filed this report.

Eskom has confirmed it will be paying multi-million-rand bonuses to current and former senior managers including axed CEO Brian Molefe. Spokesperson Khulu Phasiwe says they are paying the bonuses because people have met and exceeded their performances. Eskom earlier denied it was in financial dire straits and that it would be unable to pay salaries from November.
