The Western Cape Minister of Transport, Donald Grant, says plans are under way to declare the Delft area a high risk area for public transport following violence related to the taxi industry. At least 2 mini bus taxi drivers have been shot and killed while transporting passengers in the past two weeks. A further, 23 people were arrested at the Delft taxi rank after a shooting incident involving taxi operators from Nyanga on Tuesday. Primary school learners at Ga-Mathekga village near Steilloop in Limpopo have been forced to use bushes to relieve themselves as their school has no toilets. Learners at Tselapedi Primary School use bushes near their school which the community alleges is infested with crawling animals such as snakes. A six-month-old baby has died after being moved from one of the Gauteng Social Development department's Child and Youth Care Centres (CYCC) allegedly as a result of the strike by social workers. The department says the child was taken from Walter Sisulu CYCC in Soweto and placed at another care centre last week. The baby was among 90 children who have been moved from the provincial CYCC's. Former DA leader and Premier of the Western Cape, Helen Zille has warned that the party runs the risk of no longer being in a position to offer an alternative to the ruling party. She wrote an open letter to the Daily Maverick explaining the context of her tweets maintaining that although colonialism was evil, not every consequence had been negative. Zille also cautioned of the danger of her party adopting the ANC's policy of radical nationalism to get votes insisting that in South Africa, people are expected to shrink their minds to fit political correctness with being white considered the ultimate sin. Former Department of Social Development director general Zane Dangor suspects foul play after assailants invaded his house and intimidated his children. Dangor says he received a call from his daughter that two cars had pulled up outside their home. Dangor says his domestic worker approached the men and they grabbed her by the throat. He says his son managed to fight them off and locked himself in his room with his sister. Dangor says the men went through the house, but took nothing. Police did not open a case because nothing was taken. Earlier this month, Dangor resigned from the department due to a breakdown in his working relationship with Minister Bathabile Dlamin. The Mpumalanga MEC for Education Reginah Mhaule has visited the family of 14-year-old Siphamandla Choma who was left paralyzed after he was assaulted by his principal at Manyano Primary School, in Middelburg. His death was confirmed by the Health Department this morning. Choma had been admitted to a Middelburg hospital for observation. The department has since suspended the principal. Sakina Kamwendo speaks to Molefe Makete one of the survivors of the Sharpeville Massacre. On the 21st of March 1960, more than 50 black people were killed when police opened fire on a peaceful protest in Sharpeville. Makete says men, women and children had to flea as law enforcement officers started shooting at a crowd of about 5,000 people crowd outside the police station. The crowds had gathered at Sharpeville police station to protest against the pass laws, which they claim are designed by an apartheid government to seriously restrict their movement in white areas. Mr Makete is a PAC member and one of the leaders and survivors of the 1960 Sharpeville Massacre. He spent more than 20 years in Robben Island
