Some of the SABC 8 Journalists have continued to receive death threats following their testimonies before the Parliamentary Inquiry into the affairs of the SABC and the board's fitness to hold office. SABC Parliamentary Journalist Lukhanyo Calata, Economics Editor Thandeka Gqhubule, SAFM current Affairs Executive Producer Krivani Pillay and Freelance Journalist Vuyo Mvoko testified inquiry on behalf of all 8 journalists on Tuesday. The Right2Know Campaign (R2K) wants the State Security Minister David Mahlobo to explain exactly what his department's relationship is with the SABC. This follows evidence that emerged during the SABC 8 submission in parliament that the government spies were brought into the SABC building to investigate staff members that were suspected of being whistle-blowers. Members of the Committee asked him various questions ranging from the ICASA ruling, the walkout from the inquiry and about controversial decisions made by the board. Eskom has confirmed that it will invite bids this week to build nuclear reactors. The Department of International Relations and Co-operation (DIRCO) says claims that the former Vice President of South Sudan, Riek Machar is under house arrest in Pretoria, are not true. Media reports say the Intergovernmental Authority on Development (an eight-country East African group) had asked Pretoria to make sure Machar did not leave.
