The PAC is calling for Robert Sobukwe Day to be declared a public holiday. Every year, the PAC celebrates Sobukwe's life on his birthday, the fifth of December. The family of the late renowned Gospel musician - Sfiso Ncwane - say they are putting everything before the Lord during this difficult period. The award-wining gospel sensation died of kidney failure at a Johannesburg hospital yesterday morning (Monday 05/12). Ncwane was best known for his songs of praise which include 'Kulungile Baba' and Bayede Baba. Neliswa Mavundla reports

SRC at Wits says it foresees further university protests at the beginning of next year. This follows yesterday's announcement by management that they will raise tuition and accommodation fees by eight percent. Wits management says the increase is in line with the recommendations made by government a couple of months ago. Higher Education Minister Blade Nzimande said in September that individual universities should determine their fee increases for next year, but he set a cap of eight percent. This led to a series of Fees Must Fall protests, which disrupted academic activities at Wits and several other campuses countrywide for weeks. Wisani Makhubele reports

Western Cape police are investigating a case of murder after the killing of a 22-year-old woman from Driftsands near Khayelitsha on the Cape Flats. Noluvo Swelindawo's family believes her murder has something to do with her lesbian lifestyle. Swelidawo's body was discovered with a gunshot wound near the N2 highway. Non-government organisations in the area have condemned the incident saying it is sad that this happened during the 16 Days of Activism for No Violence Against Women and Children campaign. The rate of rape cases against minors and those committed by children is alarming in Mpumalanga. According to statistics from the Greater Rape Intervention Programme (GRIP) last year they recorded over 3000 of gender based violence. GRIP recorded more than 1500 rape and over 1700 domestic violence cases in the 10 police stations, 8 government hospitals and five courtrooms they operate in. South African based Cuban engineers have described Fidel Castro as a great leader and a big man. Thirty-four Cuban engineers are working at Water and Sanitation department. They have been spread in all the nine province to train local engineers. This is part of the agreement between South Africa and the Cuban government.
