Johannesburg emergency services says four people have died following yesterday's floods in some parts of the Gauteng province. People in informal settlements in low-lying areas have been warned to move to higher ground to avoid being caught up in flash-flooding. Flash floods have caused chaos in parts of Johannesburg and the East Rand. Emergency officials at Emer-G-Med have confirmed that at least one person has drowned on the N3 in Linksfield. Several flights were delayed at OR Thambo international airport after torrential rain flooded runways. Scores of vehicles were stuck almost roof-height in water. The Department of Transport is celebrating after the Constitutional Court got them off the hook for a 15-year-old contract. The Concourt yesterday (Wednesday 9 November) ruled that the traffic system known as eNatis, be transferred from a private provider to the Road Traffic Management Corporation. This comes after the contract with Tasima Limited was illegally extended in 2010. Senior Reporter Angela Bolowana reports.
