Radio Concrete

Radioart106 is an independent radio art program curated and produced by Meira Asher since 2014.

It explores radiophonic compositions and transmission art of worldwide radio artists.

Its first home was KolHacampus106fm in Tel Aviv and it’s now broadcasted on reboot.fm (DE), BernRaBe (CH), USMARADIO (SM), and CHIMERES (GR).

Meira Asher is a composer-performer and Human Rights activist primarily uses the medium of Sound Art and Radio Art.

She is a lecturer at Haifa university's Art School since 2012 and producer of the independent radioart show radioart106 since 2014. Her works were released on Crammed, Sub Rosa, Auditorium, RaashRecords and Ultimate Ratio.

Isolated Memory, Lost and Found by Alex Sesper:

“The beginning of these recordings, were made during my residency in the Noise Agency project in May 2021. There with objects found in the streets I made some instruments and sounds, Using some ambience recordings in several 6-second tape loops.

This recording consists of an improvisation of some material that I produced during the residency, most of the processes and audios were captured in a digital video camera, then transferred to several cassette tapes, and using 3 different 4-track porta studios I played these tapes, creating this improvisation and recording it again with a cell phone, and so trying once again to create a generation loss layer.”

An amalgamation of fragmented events with a focus on Arabic hauntology and Bedouin poetry; decomposing and recomposing the material to reveal latent features which persist regardless of this ongoing decontextualization, reallocating our gaze from meaning to contour.

Sound artist Hagai Izenberg is using here an eclectic mixture of recordings starting with a weather report narration by David Lynch , moving into my recording of Steve Reich's "Electric Counterpoint" (taken from the album 33 RPM) and then followed by the sound files listed below. All together resulting a cinematic radio spectacle where "ready made" audio materials are being recontextualised as they detach from their origin.
