दुसऱ्या महायुद्धानंतर म्हणजे १९४८ ते १९६६ दरम्यान मानवाच्या राजकीय, सामाजिक, सांस्कृतिक जगण्याशी निगडित मानवी हक्कांच्या संरक्षणार्थ आंतरराष्ट्रीय स्तरावर अनेक करारनामे झाले. भारतही त्यात सहभागी झाल्याने देशात 'मानवी हक्क संरक्षण कायदा' करण्यासाठी भारतही बांधील बनला होता. त्या दृष्टीने राष्ट्रीय आयोग स्थापणंही क्रमप्राप्त होतं. तरीही बऱ्याच विलंबाने म्हणजे १९९३ मध्ये संसदेने "मानव अधिकार संरक्षण कायदा' संमत केला व २८ सप्टेंबर १९९३ पासून तो देशभरात लागू झाला. हा कायदा लागू झाल्यावर या कायद्यान्वये १२ ऑक्टोबर १९९३ रोजी राष्ट्रीय मानवाधिकार आयोगाची (नॅशनल ह्युमन राईट्स कमिशनची) स्थापना करण्यात आली व त्याचप्रमाणे काही राज्यांतही राज्य मानवाधिकार आयोगाची स्थापना करण्यात आली. मानवी जीवन जगण्याशी संबंधित स्वतंत्रता, समानता, व्यक्तिगत प्रतिष्ठेशी संबंधित सर्व अधिकार म्हणजे मानवी हक्क अशी या कायद्यातील कलम २ मध्ये व्याख्या केली गेली. ते हक्क येथील नागरिकांना कोणत्याही प्रकारे नाकारले जाणार नाहीत व त्यांना पायदळी तुडवलं जाणार नाही, याची दक्षता बाळगण्यासाठी उपरोक्त आयोगाचं संरक्षण छत नागरिकांना उपलब्ध झालं.

Ranjit Singh, popularly known as Sher-e-Punjab or "Lion of Punjab", was the first Maharaja of the Sikh Empire, which ruled the northwest Indian subcontinent in the early half of the 19th century. He survived smallpox in infancy but lost sight in his left eye. He fought his first battle alongside his father at age 10. After his father died, he fought several wars to expel the Afghans in his teenage years and was proclaimed as the "Maharaja of Punjab" at age 21. His empire grew in the Punjab region under his leadership through 1839. Prior to his rise, the Punjab region had numerous warring misls (confederacies), twelve of which were under Sikh rulers and one Muslim. Ranjit Singh successfully absorbed and united the Sikh misls and took over other local kingdoms to create the Sikh Empire. He repeatedly defeated invasions by outside armies, particularly those arriving from Afghanistan, and established friendly relations with the British. Ranjit Singh's reign introduced reforms, modernisation, investment into infrastructure and general prosperity. His Khalsa army and government included Sikhs, Hindus, Muslims and Europeans. His legacy includes a period of Sikh cultural and artistic renaissance, including the rebuilding of the Harmandir Sahib in Amritsar as well as other major gurudwaras, including Takht Sri Patna Sahib, Bihar and Hazur Sahib Nanded, Maharashtra under his sponsorship. Ranjit Singh was succeeded by his son Kharak Singh.

महाराष्ट्रातील लातूर जिल्ह्यातील किल्लारी इथे ३० सप्टेंबर, १९९३ रोजी ६.५ रिश्टर स्केलचा भीषण भूकंप झाला आणि त्यात दहा हजारांवर माणसांचा बळी गेला. मनुष्यहानीच्या दृष्टीने भारतातील मोठ्या भूकंपांपैकी एक असा हा भूकंप मानला जातो. या भूकंपात सुमारे १० हजार माणसांचा मृत्यू ओढवला, असं अधिकृत आकडेवारी सांगते. प्रत्यक्षात जवळपास ३० हजार माणसं या घटनेत मारली गेली, असं मानलं जातं. या भूकंपाचा धक्का रिश्टर स्केलवर फार मोठा नव्हता, पण त्यातून मोठी मनुष्यहानी आणि वित्तहानी झाली. किल्लारी हे लातूरजवळचं एक छोटंसं गाव. गावाची लोकसंख्या १५ हजारांच्या आसपास. ३० सप्टेंबरच्या पहाटे ३ वाजून ५६ मिनिटांनी भूकंपाचा पहिला धक्का बसला, तेव्हा लोक झोपेत होते. या भागातली घरं प्रामुख्याने माळवदाची. मोठमोठाले दगड एकमेकांवर रचून आणि मध्ये माती घालून या घरांचं बांधकामं केलेलं असतं.

The British East India Company started a postal service in Calcutta in 1727 for their correspondence. Shriram Bhikaji Welankar was the first to pass the ICS written test in the British state. However, he failed the oral examination of the Post and Telegraph Department. Because during the period between these two examinations, according to the chronicle requested from the District Collector of Ratnagiri, Savarkar used to gather at his house in the evening and tell stories to the children while he was stationed in Ratnagiri. The British government had learned that a boy named Shriram Bhikaji Welankar was going to hear that.
William Harvey was an English physician who made influential contributions in anatomy and physiology. He was the first known physician to describe completely, and in detail, the systemic circulation and properties of blood being pumped to the brain and the rest of the body by the heart, though earlier writers, such as Realdo Colombo, Michael Servetus, and Jacques Dubois, had provided precursors of the theory.

महाराष्ट्राला हादरवून सोडणारं एक मोठं सेक्स स्कैंडल १९९३च्या जुलै महिन्यात उघडकीस आलं. जळगाव शहरात घडलेल्या या प्रकरणात मोठ्या प्रमाणावर सुशिक्षित, सुस्थित घरातील तरुणी, स्त्रिया अडकल्याचं उघडकीस आलं व महाराष्ट्रभर खळबळ उडाली. या स्कँडलमध्ये अडकलेल्या मुलींमध्ये शाळकरी मुलींपासून सुशिक्षित कुटुंबातील विवाहित महिलांपर्यंत अनेकींचा समावेश होता. बस थांबे, ब्यूटी पार्लर, आइस्क्रीम पार्लर, कॉलेज कॅम्पस अशा ठिकाणी येणाऱ्या मुलींना हेरून त्यांना या जाळ्यात ओढलं जाई. जाळ्यात अडकलेल्या मुलींना गुंगीचं औषध देऊन बेशुद्ध करणं. त्यानंतर त्यांचं लैंगिक शोषण करून अश्लील छायाचित्रण करणं, त्याआधारे त्यांना ब्लॅकमेल करून राजकारणी, गुन्हेगार, व्यावसायिक यांच्याकडे पाठवणं, अशी यातील गुन्हेगारांची कार्यपद्धती होती. या स्कँडलच्या विरोधात सुरुवातीला कोणीही तक्रार करण्यासाठी पुढे आलं नाही. त्यामुळे निर्वेधपणे हा ब्लॅकमेलिंगचा धंदा चालू राहिला. परिणामी, अनेक मुली या स्कँडलमध्ये अडकत राहिल्या. हा प्रकार ८ ते १२ वर्ष सातत्याने चालू होता.
Informative session about the important personality. Anandibai Gopalrao Joshi was one of the first Indian female doctors of western medicine alongside Kadambini Ganguly. She was the first woman from the erstwhile Bombay presidency of India to study and graduate with a two-year degree in western medicine in the United States. She was also referred to as Anandibai Joshi and Anandi Gopal Joshi (where Gopal came from Gopalrao, her husband's first name). While the Joshi couple was in Calcutta, Anandibai's health was declining. She suffered from weakness, constant headaches, occasional fever, and sometimes breathlessness. Theodicia sent her medicines from America, without results. In 1883, Gopalrao was transferred to Serampore, and he decided to send Anandibai by herself to America for her medical studies despite her poor health. Though apprehensive, Gopalrao convinced her to set an example for other women by pursuing higher education. A physician couple named Thorborn suggested that Anandibai apply to the Woman's Medical College of Pennsylvania. On learning of Anandibai's plans to pursue higher education in the West, orthodox Indian society censured her very strongly.

६ डिसेंबर, १९९२च्या बाबरी मशीद उद्ध्वस्त करण्याच्या घटनेनंतर डिसेंबर १९९२ व जानेवारी १९९३ मधील भीषण दंगलींच्या दाहातून मुंबई सावरते ना सावरते तोच १२ मार्च, १९९३ रोजी दुपारी सुमारे १.३० ते ३.३० च्या दरम्यान मुंबईत विविध ठिकाणी १३ शक्तिशाली बॉम्बस्फोट घडवण्यात आले. अधोलोकाच्या संगनमताने व नियोजनबद्ध पद्धतीने घडवून आणलेल्या या आरडीएक्स बॉम्बस्फोट मालिकेने अवघी मुंबई हादरून गेली व त्यात अडीचशेच्या वर नागरिक ठार झाले आणि सुमारे १४०० जण जखमी झाले. स्वातंत्र्योत्तर इतिहासातील ही भारतातील पहिलीच सर्वांत मोठी बॉम्बस्फोट मालिका ठरली व त्याचे आंतरराष्ट्रीय स्तरावर पडसाद उमटले.
