१२ मार्च, १९९३ रोजी मुंबईत घडवण्यात आलेल्या बॉम्बस्फोट मालिकेच्या संदर्भात पोलिसांनी अभिनेता संजय दत्त याला १९ एप्रिल १९९३ रोजी 'टाडा' कायद्यांतर्गत अटक केली आणि त्यामुळे सर्वत्र खळबळ उडाली. जानेवारी १९९३ मध्ये त्याने या खटल्यातील प्रमुख आरोपींच्या सहाय्याने एक पिस्तूल आणि एक एके-५६ रायफल बेकायदेशीरपणे मिळवले व बाळगले आणि त्याचप्रमाणे काही हँड ग्रेनेडही त्याच्या बांद्रा येथील राहत्या घरी ठेवले गेले, असे आरोप संजय दत्त याच्यावर करण्यात आले होते. या अटकेनंतर त्याला सुमारे दीड वर्ष न्यायालयीन कोठडीत राहावे लागले व नंतर त्याची जामिनावर सुटका झाली. पुढे मुंबईच्या विशेष टाडा न्यायालयात बॉम्बस्फोटाच्या घटनेसंदर्भातील खटला चालला. त्यात ज्या १२९ जणांवर आरोपपत्र दाखल करण्यात आले, त्यांत संजय दत्तचा समावेश करण्यात आला होता. बाबरी मशीद उद्ध्वस्त केल्याच्या घटनेनंतर निर्माण झालेल्या सांप्रदायिक द्वेषाच्या वातावरणात आपल्या जिवाला धोका असल्याचे वाटल्याने स्वसंरक्षणार्थ शस्त्रं मिळवली, असा कबुलीजबाब संजय दत्तने दिला होता. ३१ जुलै २००७ प्रिल रोजी टाटा कोर्टाचे न्यायाधीश प्रमोद कोदे यांनी हा बचाव फेटाळला. सर्वत्र संजय दहशतवादी कारस्थानात सामील नसल्याचा निर्वाळा देतानाच न्यायालयाने त्याला ६ वर्षांची सक्तमजुरीची शिक्षा सुनावली. त्यानंतर च्या संजय दत्त याला जामीन नाकारला गेल्याने पुन्हा अटक झाली. परंतु पुढे इपणे सर्वोच्च न्यायालयात अपील केल्यावर २३ ऑगस्ट २००७ रोजी त्याची बांद्रा जामिनावर सुटका झाली. सर्वोच्च न्यायालयातील त्याचे अपील प्रलंबित राहिले.

Charles Freer Andrews (12 February 1871 – 5 April 1940) was an Anglican priest and Christian missionary, educator and social reformer, and an activist for Indian Independence. He became a close friend of Rabindranath Tagore and Mahatma Gandhi and identified with the Indian liberation struggle. He was instrumental in convincing Gandhi to return to India from South Africa, where Gandhi had been a leading light in the Indian civil rights struggle. C. F. Andrews was affectionately dubbed Christ's Faithful Apostle by Gandhi, based on his initials, C.F.A. For his contributions to the Indian independence movement, Gandhi and his students at St. Stephen's College, Delhi, named him Deenabandhu, or "Friend of the Poor".

भारतातील गायन, वादन, लोककला, नृत्यकला आदींच्या कलाविष्काराद्वारे भारतीय संस्कृतीचं दर्शन घडवण्याच्या उद्देशाने १९९३ पासून कुतुब फेस्टिव्हल या सांस्कृतिक महोत्सवाचं आयोजन करण्यास सुरुवात केली गेली. दिल्ली पर्यटन विकास महामंडळ आणि साहित्य कला परिषद यांच्या संयुक्त विद्यमाने आयोजित होणाऱ्या या वार्षिक महोत्सवातील विविध कार्यक्रम दिल्लीच्या जगप्रसिद्ध कुतुब मिनार या ऐतिहासिक वास्तूच्या परिसरात तेव्हापासून दरवर्षी नोव्हेंबर-डिसेंबर महिन्यादरम्यान सादर केले जाऊ लागले. कुतुब मिनार हे राजधानी दिल्लीत येणाऱ्या राष्ट्रीय व आंतरराष्ट्रीय स्तरावरील पर्यटकांचं प्रमुख आकर्षण राहिलं आहे. त्याचप्रमाणे, स्थापत्यकलेच्या व वास्तुशिल्पाच्या अंगाने वास्तूचं महत्त्व हे की, तेराव्या शतकातील कुतुबुद्दीन ऐबकापासून ते सोळाव्या शतकाच्या पूर्वार्धातील सिकंदर लोधीपर्यंतच्या विविध राज्यकर्त्यांच्या अमदानीत या मिनाराचं काम टप्प्या-टप्प्याने पूर्ण होत गेलं.

Martin Luther King Jr. was an American Baptist minister and activist who became the most visible spokesman and leader in the civil rights movement from 1955 until his assassination in 1968. An African American church leader and the son of early civil rights activist and minister Martin Luther King Sr., King advanced civil rights for people of color in the United States through nonviolence and civil disobedience, inspired by his Christian beliefs and the nonviolent activism of Mahatma Gandhi. His role in leading the cause of civil rights in the South differed in style from the previous accommodationist stances represented by Booker T. Washington and black-and-tan faction leader Perry Wilbon Howard II.

शेतीची कामं नसतील तेव्हा मागेल त्याला काम उपलब्ध करण्याच्या उद्देशाने २ ऑक्टोबर, १९९३ रोजी रोजगार आश्वासन योजना सुरू करण्यात आली. सुरुवातीला प्रायोगिक तत्त्वावर देशातील २५७ जिल्ह्यांमध्ये ही योजना लागू करण्यात आली. या योजनेकरता दारिद्र्यरेषेखालील प्रत्येक गरजू कुटुंबातील दोन तरुणांना वर्षातील १०० दिवस रोजगार उपलब्ध करून देण्याचं उद्दिष्ट निश्चित करण्यात आलं. ग्रामीण भागातील रोजगाराची गरज पूर्ण करण्याबरोबरच अशा रोजगारांमधून ग्रामीण भागातील सार्वजनिक साधनसंपत्तीचा विकास साधण्याचाही हेतू या योजनेमागे होता. १९९७-९८ मध्ये ही योजना संपूर्ण देशात लागू करण्यात येऊन देशातील ५४४८ पंचायत समित्यांचा समावेश त्यामध्ये करण्यात आला. पुढे डिसेंबर २००१ मध्ये केंद्र सरकारने सुरू केलेल्या नव्या संपूर्ण ग्रामीण रोजगार योजनेमध्ये या योजनेचं विलीनीकरण करण्यात आलं. १९९३ ते २००० या काळात या योजनेतून सुमारे १५ हजार ४०० लाख मनुष्यदिवस इतका रोजगार उपलब्ध करण्यात येऊन त्यावर सुमारे ८ हजार कोटी रुपये खर्च करण्यात आले.
Informative session about the important personality. Kamaladevi Chattopadhyay was an Indian social reformer and freedom activist. She was most remembered for her contribution to the Indian independence movement; for being the driving force behind the renaissance of Indian handicrafts, handlooms, and theatre in independent India; and for upliftment of the socio-economic standard of Indian women by pioneering the co-operation. She is the first lady in India to stand in elections from Madras Constituency although she lost in the elections but she pioneered the path for the women in India. Several cultural institutions in India today exist because of her vision, including the National School of Drama, Sangeet Natak Akademi, Central Cottage Industries Emporium, and the Crafts Council of India. She stressed the significant role which handicrafts and cooperative grassroot movements play in the social and economic upliftment of the Indian people. To this end she withstood great opposition both before and after independence from the power centres. In 1974, she was awarded the Sangeet Natak Academy Fellowship, the highest honour conferred by the Sangeet Natak Academy, India's National Academy of Music, Dance & Drama. She was conferred with Padma Bhushan and Padma Vibhushan by Government of India in 1955 and 1987 respectively. She is known as Hatkargha Maa for her works in handloom sector.
