Surya Sen, also called Surya Kumar Sen, was an Indian revolutionary who was influential in the Indian independence movement against British rule in India and is best known for leading the 1930 Chittagong armoury raid. Sen was a school teacher by profession and was popularly known as Master Da. ("da" is an honorific suffix in Bengali language). He was influenced by the nationalist ideals in 1916 while he was a student of B.A. in Berhampore College (Now Krishnath College). In 1918, he was selected as president of the Indian National Congress's Chittagong branch. Sen was known for recruiting a group of young and passionate revolutionaries known as the Chittagong group including Ananta Singh, Ganesh Ghosh and Lokenath Bal, who fought against the British stationed in Chittagong. He was an active participant in the Non-co-operation movement and was later arrested and imprisoned for 2 years from 1926 to 1928 for his revolutionary activities. A brilliant and inspirational organiser, Sen was fond of saying "Humanism is a special virtue of the revolutionary." After the Chittagong raid in 1930 and a fierce battle where over 80 British Indian Army soldiers and 12 revolutionaries were killed, Sen and other surviving revolutionaries dispersed into small groups and hid in neighbouring villages, launching raids on government personnel and property. Sen was arrested on 16 February 1933, tried and was hanged on 12 January 1934. Many of his fellow revolutionaries were also caught and sentenced to long periods of imprisonment.

१९९२ मध्ये जनता दल (समाजवादी) या पक्षाचा त्याग करून उत्तर प्रदेशातील अग्रगण्य नेते मुलायमसिंह यांनी ऑक्टोबर १९९२ मध्ये समाजवादी पार्टी या नव्या पक्षाची स्थापना केली.
राममनोहर लोहियाप्रणीत लोकशाही समाजवाद व बहुजन समाजाचं हित यावर निष्ठा असल्याचा दावा करणारे मुलायमसिंह हे मुळात लोकदल पक्षात होते. उत्तर प्रदेशातील यादव, इतर मागासवर्गीय जाती व मुस्लीम समाजात त्यांनी मोठा जनाधार विकसित केला. १९८८ मध्ये व्ही. पी. सिंह काँग्रेसमधून बाहेर पडले व ऑक्टोबर १९८८ मध्ये जेव्हा त्यांनी जनता दल हा पक्ष स्थापन केला, तेव्हा लोकदल हा पक्ष जनता दल पक्षात विसर्जित केला गेला. पण नोव्हेंबर १९९० मध्ये व्ही. पी. सिंह यांचं सरकार कोसळलं आणि चंद्रशेखर जनता दलातून बाहेर पडून त्यांनी जनता दल (समाजवादी) हा पक्ष स्थापन केला. मुलायमसिंहांचा गट तेव्हा या पक्षात सहभागी झाला. त्यानंतर काँग्रेसच्या पाठिंब्याने चंद्रशेखर पंतप्रधान झाले आणि जनता दल (समाजवादी) पक्ष केंद्रात सत्तेवर आला. त्याचप्रमाणे उत्तर प्रदेशातही काँग्रेसच्याच पाठिंब्याने हा पक्ष सत्तेवर येऊन मुलायमसिंह मुख्यमंत्री झाले. याच काळात जेव्हा रामजन्मभूमीच्या मुद्द्यावरून भाजप व संघ परिवाराने वादळ उठवलं होतं तेव्हा मुलायमसिंह यांनी त्याविरोधात प्रखर भूमिका घेतली. त्यामुळे मुस्लीम समाजात त्यांचा जनाधार वाढला. पण एप्रिल १९९१ मध्ये काँग्रेसने दोन्ही ठिकाणचा आपला पाठिंबा काढून घेतला आणि ही सरकारं अल्पायुषी ठरली. या सर्व घडामोडींच्या पार्श्वभूमीवर, ऑक्टोबर १९९२ मध्ये मुलायमसिंह यांनी उत्तर प्रदेशात समाजवादी पार्टी (सपा) या नव्या पक्षाची स्थापना केली.

Bismillah Khan (born Qamaruddin Khan, 21 March 1914 – 21 August 2006), often referred to by the title Ustad, was an Indian musician credited with popularizing the shehnai, a reeded woodwind instrument. While the shehnai had long held importance as a folk instrument played primarily schooled in traditional ceremonies, Khan is credited with elevating its status and bringing it to the concert stage.
He was awarded India's highest civilian honour, the Bharat Ratna, in 2001, becoming the third classical musician of India after M. S. Subbalakshmi and Ravi Shankar to be awarded the Bharat Ratna.

१९८० नंतर पंजाबमध्ये ठाण मांडून बसलेल्या दहशतवादाला वेसण घालण्यात लष्करी-निमलष्करी आणि पोलीस दलांना जवळपास तेरा वर्षांनंतर यश मिळालं. १९९२-९३ या काळात या दलांनी राबवलेल्या कठोर मोहिमेतून पंजाबमधील खलिस्तानवादी दहशतवाद्यांचं खच्चीकरण होऊन हिंसाचार संपुष्टात आला. मात्र या तेरा वर्षांच्या काळात पंजाबमधील हिंसाचारात २१ हजारांहून अधिक बळी गेले, हजारो माणसं जखमी आणि अपंग झाली, लक्षावधी कुटुंबं उद्ध्वस्त झाली.
१९९२-९३ मध्ये पंजाबात शांततेची चिन्हं दिसू लागली तरी त्याआधीची बारा वर्षं पंजाब अक्षरश: धुमसत होता. इंदिरा गांधींच्या हत्येनंतर राजीव गांधी, विश्वनाथ प्रताप सिंह आणि चंद्रशेखर या तिन्ही पंतप्रधानांनी पंजाबचा प्रश्न चर्चेने आणि वाटाघाटींनी सुटावा यासाठी अनेक प्रयत्न केले होते. पंजाबमध्ये राजकीय प्रक्रिया सुरू व्हावी व लोकशाही प्रक्रियेतून पंजाबच्या मागण्या पूर्ण केल्या जाव्यात, असा प्रयत्नही केला गेला होता. मात्र अकाली दलाच्या लोंगोवाल वगळता अन्य कोणत्याही गटाने सरकारच्या या प्रयत्नांना सकारात्मक प्रतिसाद दिला नाही. दहशतवाद्यांनी तर सर्व प्रयत्नांना सुरुंग लावण्याचाच प्रयत्न केला. या पार्श्वभूमीवर, पंतप्रधान नरसिंह राव यांच्या सरकारने पोलिसी आणि लष्करी बळाचा सक्षम वापर करून पंजाबमधील दहशतवादाचा समूळ बीमोड करण्याची भूमिका अंगिकारली.

Sir Isaac Newton PRS (25 December 1642 – 20 March 1726) was an English mathematician, physicist, astronomer, alchemist, theologian, and author (described in his time as a "natural philosopher") widely recognized as one of the greatest mathematicians and physicists of all time and among the most influential scientists. He was a key figure in the philosophical revolution known as the Enlightenment. His book Philosophiæ Naturalis Principia Mathematica (Mathematical Principles of Natural Philosophy), first published in 1687, established classical mechanics. Newton also made seminal contributions to optics, and shares credit with German mathematician Gottfried Wilhelm Leibniz for developing infinitesimal calculus.
