Lets face it, we can probably all admit that as hunters, we love running trail cameras. From the summer months to even during shed season, looking at trail camera photos of big bucks can just become addicting. There is an anticipation that sets in once you put a camera on a new piece of land to hunt or even just putting it in a new location to wait and see what bucks show up. You can learn so much about from your deer based on how your trail cameras are set up. You can begin to lear their core areas better, the trails they take, and you begin to have an archive of history with them over the years. With in the last several years, the cellular trail camera market has become more affordable for the average hunter. They have become an incredible tool to give hunters real time information on deer movement with the push of a button to get a video or photo downloaded to our phone. The real question is though, has this given hunters too much of an advantage on the deer themselves? On this episode of the Raised Hunting Podcast, we discuss how cellular trail cameras have truly changed the world of deer hunting based on the real time information we receive. We also dive into a potential correlation of how the recent advancements in trail cameras in general could be effect the calibre of deer being harvested by hunters. We also dive into topics of land management and another Iowa rut update for you guys! So we ask the Question again, are cellular trail cameras too much of an advantage for hunters?

Over the years, the more you deer hunt, the more you learn. From the summer months to the rut, you are constantly tracking target bucks and your young studs. When hunting season comes around, that is the time when you learn the most about your deer. You can see their patterns, how dominant of a buck they really are, and you begin to see what their flaw is that will give you a shot opportunity. However, each buck is different, they each have their own personalities. One buck can be a traveler that disappears for weeks at a time, while another could be a total home body. The real question is, how much of that past history can you apply to your current target buck? On this episode of the Raised Hunting Podcast, we dive into our history books and take a look at how we hunted our mature bucks over the years. We look at the patterns these deer have had, how dominant they were, and where their core areas have been to try and find tactics we can use on our current target bucks. From year to year each deer is different, however you can pick out strategies that have worked to give you the best chance at your current bucks.

To say that some people may go to extreme measures to chase a monster buck is an understatement when it comes this case. After nearly a year since the Ohio giant was poached, Cj Alexander has now pleaded guilty to 14 criminal charges. Back in November of 2023, Alexander poached potentially the biggest typical whitetail in Ohio state history. Not only did he illegally harvest the animal, he proceeded to appear on numerous podcasts with an elaborate lie to cover up his criminal activity during the on going investigation. On this episode of the Raised Hunting Podcast we give our real opinions on the matter and discuss how this affected the hunting community as a whole. We also discuss what we believe the punishment for poaching should truly be. Would jail time and a revoked hunting license deter someone from poaching a big buck, or is the reward worth the risk? For all of you guys and gals out there looking for hunting strategies and whitetail discussion, don't worry we have that in the episode as well. We breakdown how the season has been going so far, what we have seen in buck movement, calling strategies, and how the next coming weeks could be a key time to be in the woods. So buckle up, for all of you that like seeing a fired up discussion, you are getting exactly what you asked for!

For a lot of you guys out there, the weekends are the best time in the fall. That means it's time to get out in the woods because it may be your only time to hunt if you can't take time off. After a week full of work, Saturday and Sunday is your time to go chase after those big bucks. However, for the longest time, certain states only gave you one day to hunt, making it illegal to hunt on Sundays. This can make it incredibly tough on your typical 9 A.M. to 5 P.M. weekly workers to get any chance of getting on a target buck. Almost all states that have had that law in place, have now put it to rest. However two, more states still have this "Blue Law" in place. On this episode of the Raised Hunting Podcast we discuss some of the old "Blue Laws" and how they have affected hunters. We also discuss the validity behind the October lull in the deer hunting world. From seeing how the weather can affect deer movement to even discussing moon phases, we try to decide whether the October lull is fact or fiction.
Whitetail season is in full swing. In some areas, farmers have begun their harvests, cooler mornings are coming, and scrapes are beginning to see more activity from bucks. For some of you guys out there, your target bucks have already shown up. For others, you are either still waiting on him or you came into the season waiting to find a shooter. October can be one of the best times to hunt a target buck while he is still on his pattern before the chaos of the rut takes hold. On this episode of the Raised Hunting Podcast, we will be breaking down our October strategies. We discuss the strategies that have proven successful in past seasons, as well as new ones we look to implement on a couple of our target bucks. If you are going into this season with a buck who shows up late, don't worry you are still in good shape!

The excitement of getting a new property to hunt whitetails is a tough feeling to beat. Whether you purchase a new piece of ground to own, pay for a lease, or even just get permission on a piece of ground, the mystery of what you will see takes hold. From the first day of scouting it, you begin to look for signs of bucks in the area, rubs, scrapes, even sheds. You are looking for places to hang stands, where to put food plots, what ever you can to give you the best chances of success on this new farm. One of the biggest thing to figure out on a new piece of ground is where the deer are bedding. For new hunters especially, it can be tough to identify what a bedding area is. On this episode of the Raised Hunting Podcast, we dive into the classifications of bedding areas for whitetails. We take a look at properties we hunt and where we have hung stands in the past to give you the best classification of bedding areas we can.
