Now most of the bands and orchestras that we play on this show have decidedly unimaginative names, generally, the leader’s name, and His Orchestra or and His Band. For example, Roger Wolfe Kahn and His Orchestra, Jack Hylton and His Orchestra. Fine bands. Dull names. So, for this edition of the show, I’ve gone through to try to find records made by bands with more creative or unusual names.
Enjoy the show!
Here’s the complete playlist:
Segment 1: Making Vintage Melody’s
Let Me Sing and I’m Happy – Manhattan Melody Makers / Sam Browne
Futuristic Rhythm – The Whoopee Makers (Cr. Mills Musical Clowns)/ Mildred Roselle

Segment 2: British Bands
This segment of the show features three more British bands
Whistling in the Dark – The Rhythmic Troubadors / Leslie Holmes
Ridin’ Around in the Rain – J. Predergast & The Rialtonians
The King’s Horses – Harry Hudson’s Melody Men/ John Thorne & Chorus

Continuing this out of the ordinary band name edition of Rapidly Rotating Records.
Waffle Man’s Call – Johnny Bayersdorffer a Jazzola Novely
Get Happy – Red Nichols and His Five Pennies as The Captivators / Scrappy Lambert, v.
Ring Around the Moon – Cliff Jackson and His Crazy Kats
Segment 4: Toe Tapping Titles
Homesick – Musical Bell Hops (Yerkes Bell Hops)
Hello, Bluebird – Cliquot Club Eskimos/ Tom Stacks

Segment 5: Winter Stomping
Copenhagen Stomp – Boyd Senter ah Senterpedes
Winter Will Come – Capt. Plunkett’s Overseas Orch
Wipe ‘em Off – Seven Gallon Jug Band
Segment 6: Sail The Seas
We have time for at least one more. We just heard from Capt. Plunkett’s Overseas Orchestra, so it’s fitting that we hear from Earl Gresh and His Gangplank Orchestra.

Although listeners to this show might not believe it, I’m generally known as a pauciloquent person. Pauciloquent is a rare, archaic word meaning “uttering few words, or speaking briefly”. So, this evening’s show features rapidly rotating records of few words, at least in their titles.
Enjoy the show!
Here’s the complete playlist:
Segment 1: Pauciloquent Titles
All tonight’s songs have pauciloquent titles of just one word, starting with these.
Baby – The Whoopee Makers

Recently in the 78 discussion group online, there was a thread going about song titles with bad grammar. So, on this evening’s show, the rules of grammar are out the window as we have songs with double negatives, poor syntax, mismatched tense, and incorrect case.
Enjoy the show!
Here’s the complete playlist:
Segment 1: Correcting Sentences
To get us started, while I recall sitting in Mrs. Reynolds high school English class diagramming sentence.
I Faw Down and Go Boom – Paul Clifford’s Master Musicians

Tain’t No Sin – Lee Morse and her Bluegrass Boys

It Don’t Do Nothing by Rain – Art Gillham
My Papa Doesn’t Two Time No Time – The New Orleans Jazz Band
Because My Baby Don’t Mean Maybe Now – Geo Olsen – Bob Borger, v.
