Nothing Happens in God's World by Mistake
One of the most quoted lines in recovery comes from the acceptance story in the Big Book:
"Nothing, absolutely nothing, happens in God's world by mistake."
At first, those words can be difficult to accept. How can we make sense of addiction, loss, broken relationships, pain, or tragedy? Does that mean God caused those things?
It may mean that even in the middle of our mistakes, our failures, and life's hardships, God can bring purpose, growth, healing, and hope. Recovery doesn't erase our past, but it can redeem it. The very experiences we wish had never happened often become the experiences that allow us to help someone else.
Acceptance doesn't mean approving of everything that happens.
It means trusting that God can work through it.
Today on The Daily Trudge, we're talking about one of recovery's most powerful principles: acceptance. We'll explore what this statement really means, how it has helped millions find peace in difficult circumstances, and why trusting God's plan doesn't require us to understand it completely.
Because sometimes the greatest miracles aren't found in avoiding life's struggles...
They're found in discovering God's purpose through them.
