  • Reliving The War Episode 61 - December 9th 1996

    It's the week of the WWF's In Your House "It's Time" event and the company are gearing up for their final PPV of the year. On this week's episode of Raw, number 1 contender Bret Hart sends a message to Sycho Sid during an in-ring promo. We also have a big main event this week; Mankind vs The Undertaker in a no holds barred showdown.

    On WCW Nitro, Roddy Piper is in attendance and he makes a few in-ring appearances. Piper wants Hollywood Hulk Hogan, the Hot Rod has turned down help from The Four Horsemen, Piper is itching for a fight with the WCW Champion. Matches this week on Nitro include Arn Anderson vs Craig Pittman, Chris Jericho vs Bobby Eaton and Diamond Dallas Page vs Jeff Jarrett.

  • Reliving The War Episode 60 - December 2nd 1996

    Reliving The War takes a close look at the fabled WWF vs WCW Monday Night Wars by looking at EVERY match, promo and segment that aired on WWF Monday Night Raw and WCW Monday Nitro.


    The date is 12.2.96 and the WWF are headed towards In Your House : It's Time. WCW will put on their annual Starrcade event at the end of the year, and both promotions are giving fans some big names in their scheduled pay per view main events. Bret Hart vs Sycho Sid will headline In Your House 12, while Roddy Piper vs Hulk Hogan will main event WCW's biggest show of the calendar year.

    This week on WCW Nitro, Sting gets challenged to a match. Rick and Scott Steiner aren't happy with Sting hitting a death drop on Rick last week, so the "Dog-Faced Gremlin" lays out a challenge for Sting this week on Nitro. Elsewhere, Arn Anderson begins worrying about Chris Benoit's relationship with woman, and Glacier makes his return to WCW Nitro.

    On the USA Network, Shawn Michaels gets interviewed by Vince McMahon. HBK wants to further address the reaction he got at Survivor Series 1996, and he also wants to address Sycho Sid. Inside the ring, we have Jesse James vs Bradshaw, Flash Funk making his in-ring Raw debut, and a tag team main event featuring Hunter Hearst Helmsley & Billy Gunn vs Marc Mero & Jake Roberts.

  • Reliving The War Episode 59 - November 25th 1996

    WCW World War 3 1996 just took place and The Giant earned himself a WCW World Heavyweight Championship match in the future. The US Title is also now up for grabs as a tournament begins in WCW to crown a new US Champion, and the first tournament matches begin this week on WCW Monday Nitro. Elsewhere, Harlem Heat vs The Faces of Fear takes place, and Eric Bischoff announces to the WCW locker room that all competitors have 30 days to change their WCW contracts to nWo contracts.


    On WWF Raw, a classic rivalry gets reignited when Bret Hart battles his little brother Owen. Shawn Michaels takes part in an interview where he addresses Survivor Series 1996 and the fans turning on him, and in the main event - Marc Mero battles Billy Gunn.

    It's the night after WWF Survivor Series 1996 and there's a new WWF Champion; Sycho Sid. Sid defeated Shawn Michaels in Madison Square Garden, and the Michaels' "Boyhood Dream" is over (for now). This week's Raw opens up with a Stone Cold Steve Austin vs Mankind match, one of the best opening matches of the series so far.


    Eric Bischoff tells us all night that Roddy Piper has been rumored to be in the area, but he likely won't show up. Bischoff gets a surprise towards the end of the show, and a big revelation changes the future of both WCW and the nWo. Elsewhere, Chris Benoit has a match with Eddie Guerrero and Sting watches over Lex Luger, Ric Flair and Jeff Jarrett.

    The WWF are preparing for their Survivor Series 1996 event this week where Shawn Michaels defends his WWF championship against Sycho Sid. Sid and Shawn team up this week to do battle with Owen Hart & Davey Boy Smith, and the friendship HBK had with Sid gets completely destroyed at the end of this very match. Elsewhere, Stone Cold Steve Austin battles Bob Holly while Bret "Hitman" Hart watches the match from his locker room.


    Over on WCW Nitro, a mysterious VHS tape gets left at the commentary table. The video tape gets played at the end of Monday Nitro, and it concerns Hollywood Hulk Hogan. Harlem Heat vs The Amazing French Canadians and Lex Luger vs Scott Norton also takes place on this week's episode of WCW Nitro.

    Another WWF Raw vs WCW Nitro battle! The WWF are heading towards Survivor Series 1996 where Shawn Michaels defends his WWF Championship against Sycho Sid, while Bret Hart makes his in-ring return against Stone Cold Steve Austin. This episode of Raw features the infamous "Pillman's Got A Gun" segments where Steve Austin tries to break into Pillman's home.

    Over on Nitro, Eric Bischoff is on the road trying to sign a match between Roddy Piper and Hulk Hogan. Sting is in the rafters for Nitro, and his old buddy Lex Luger has a rematch this week against Harlem Heat's Booker T.

Also on Raw, Bret "Hitman" Hart makes his return.

    WCW Nitro features Harlem Heat vs The American Males, Lex Luger vs Road Block, and The Fantastics have their final televised match against The Faces of Fear. Also, the Macho Man Randy Savage sees another video featuring his ex-wife Miss Elizabeth.

    This week's Raw vs Nitro battle takes place the week before In Your House: Buried Alive. The WWF put on a blockbuster main event; Shawn Michaels vs Stone Cold Steve Austin. Hunter Hearst Helmsley does battle with Freddie Joe Floyd while Mr. Perfect is on the lookout for Hunter's valet, and Vader opens up the show with a match against Phineas Godwinn.

    Over on TNT, WCW Nitro is live from the Mid-South Coliseum. Jeff Jarrett vs Hugh Morrus takes place and Jarrett gets a great ovation from the Memphis audience. Elsewhere on the show, Harlem Heat goes to war with The Faces of Fear, and Macho Man Randy Savage gets a video message from Miss. Elizabeth.

    WCW Nitro and WWF Raw go head to head in another battle of the Monday Night Wars.

    Ric Flair is scheduled to take on Macho Man Randy Savage in tonight's main event on Nitro, but a surprise from the nWo leaves WCW without a main event match. Chris Beniot does battle again with Rick Steiner in the semi-main spot, and Arn Anderson gets confident enough to attack Lex Luger during this episode of Nitro.
    Over on WWF Monday Night Raw, the "fake" Diesel wrestles a match with Marc Mero. Jim Cornette isn't very pleased that Vader has to earn a WWF Title shot after pinning Shawn Michaels last week, and our main event features Sycho Sid battling Vader.
