Grace is learning about Obedience. It is a little rule with big consequences if not followed. Your child will learn, along with Grace, what can happen when we forget to obey.

Grace loves flowers and chocolate chip cookies! She likes to collect flowers for her mother, and her mother loves to make cookies for Grace. One day when she was doing just that, Grace forgot a very important rule! How will she get back home now?

The author, Nicole Patrice Thomas, admits to being a headstrong child herself. She pens "The Flower Girl" to teach children to listen and obey the rules set for them. "If I can prevent my daughter (or yours) from making some of the same mistakes that I did, then I will consider myself a success. Isn't that what all parents really want? For their children to do better, be better and go further than they did?" 

✅ ABOUT THE AUTHOR:

Nicole Patrice Thomas is a hospitality professional by trade and a poet at heart. Her goal is to spread light and love to her readers.

Her characters find redemption and hope despite betrayals, will see themselves reflected in some aspect within the pages and know that regardless of how or where they start in life, the ending can always change. 

"The Flower Girl" is her first children's book after writing a young adult Christian fantasy trilogy, "Tales of Elhaanai."

She shows the reader that she can embrace a new environment, language, and a different culture. Leaving their home and settling in another is tough on all kids.

The author, Shermaine Perry-Knights, creates empathy for military families so they can understand a little bit more about what these children's daily lives are like. "There's a lot of social, physical and emotional change associated with a world they were just born into. They had no choice, but they still had to live and survive and sometimes explain to their friends who are not a part of the military community what their day-to-day life is like. A lot of times we honor the service member. Sometimes we mention their spouse, but we're not typically honoring the children for their sacrifices."

Shermaine Perry-Knights is an award-winning facilitator, project manager, speaker, world traveler, and author. She has over ten years of writing, teaching, and public speaking, experience.

Shermaine is a proud military kid and a lifelong learner. She holds several professional certifications in learning development. Shermaine helps others develop emotional intelligence and leadership skills.

This passion for learning has blossomed into articles, adult and youth coloring books, guided journals, and picture books that make military-connected families "feel heard and seen". She also owns a publishing agency, Amazingly Published LLC.

Shermaine has traveled throughout Asia and the West Indies, and she lived and studied in Europe and the Middle East. She shares these experiences in keynotes on resilience and change management.

Zoevera "Zoey" Jackson lives in Fredericksburg, VA, with her husband and two college-aged sons. She is a retired Army officer with over 20yrs of honorable military service. She has a Bachelor's Degree in English from Illinois State University and a Masters Degree in Human Relations from the University of Oklahoma. She spends her spare time writing and publishing books, doing yoga, and advocating for children's literacy in the community.

Shondra M. Quarles is an early childhood educator and children's book author who resides in Dallas. In 2014, Ms. Quarles' students inspired her to write and self-publish her first e-book titled Kindergartner Wisdom: The Best Advice I Ever Got Came From Kindergartners. Shondra later published her first paperback book titled The Teacher Who Didn't Want to go to School in 2016. This book earned her a prestigious award from the National Celebrity Educators for authoring a book about teachers. The Teacher Who Didn't Want to go to School was also a children's book finalist for the 2017 and 2018 Indie Author Legacy Awards.

In 2017, Shondra co-authored a book about diversity titled Trees. In 2018, she published Black Lives Matter: A Picture Book for Kids and My Black is Beautiful. Both books were written to promote self-love. Shondra went on to be a featured author at the 2018 NAACP Convention, and her books were featured at the 2018 Essence Music Festival.

Her book Curly Hair, Don't Care was written in 2019 to encourage children to be proud of their natural hair. Other 2019 publications include Young King and Fati's Garden. Young King is a book of affirmations for young boys, and Fati's Garden follows a young girl who discovers the power of planting seeds.

In 2020, Shondra published The Three Bears go to School and The Teacher Who Was Quarantined and Couldn't Go to School. Her most recent publications are Jamal's Nursery Rhyme Remix, featuring diverse characters and No Calvin, a book about a boy learning safe choices as he goes back to school during the COVID-19 pandemic.

Taneka Ferrell is a Maryland resident and product of the Prince Georges County (PGC) schools system, Oxon Hill High School graduate, and University of Maryland Eastern Shore graduate with a Bachelor of Science in Biology. 

 As a young black woman growing up in Maryland, Taneka does not look like what she has been through. Her story, testimony, and energy makes each person she graces her presence realize and understand that they do not have to allow their circumstances to become their blueprint for life. But rather, it can be a stepping stone for how to rise above, be fearfully and wonderfully made in God's image and give back no matter how much we may have lacked or not experienced in our youth.

Tulani Thomas was inspired to write children's books ten years ago while starting her family and practising corporate law.

"I knew that I wanted to raise my children with that green ethos. As I was able to stay home after my first child and look to populate his library with diverse characters and messages that complement what I was teaching him at home, I was hitting a wall, and I said, why don't I go and write a book? I know other mothers trying to raise environmentally friendly children are also looking for a tool like this."
