  • Richie Quake On His Path To Authentic Self-Expression As An Artist

This episode of Ready to Launch, I spoke with Richie Quake. Singer, songwriter, DJ, producer, based out of Brooklyn, New York. We talked a lot on the topic of authenticity. When you fail at something, is it because you were not being authentic? Is it inauthentic to let others' opinions sway the direction you take your work? What is the balance between marketing yourself to the masses, but staying authentic to yourself? How do you move on from publicly trying something out and failing? Should the road to finding your niche most ideally be linear? Richie tried out several genres of music before finally arriving at what felt most authentic to him. He shares his story about feeling pressured to make music that the masses liked even though it wasn't true to him. He shares how he finally arrived at a place with his work where the most important opinion was his own. Loved this episode, it's one that everyone needs to hear. X

  • The Point That Perfectionism Becomes A Fault | Dior Vision (Jacob Mosley)

On the show with have 20-year-old photographer and entrepreneur, Jacob Mosley, otherwise known as Dior Vision! Jacob has shot some pretty crazy artists such as Lil Uzi Vert, Kendrick Lamar and Tory Lanez. He started shooting when he was just a freshman in high school and six years later, continues to shoot some of the biggest shows in the industry. It all started with him taking a chance where he saw an opportunity, and the rest was history. In this episode, we talk about the importance of starting now, and not waiting until everything is "perfect" and we also get into how to deal with perfectionism in an age where everything online seems to be "perfect." I also talk about perfectionism in the beginning of the show and we discuss the work of Thomas Curran, a researcher from the University of Baths. He gave a Ted Med Talk on the impact that his research shows perfectionism is having on society, especially in young people. This is something that has been on my mind a lot lately, so I wanted to share it with you guys. Enjoy!

  • Turning A Blog Into A Successful Skincare Line | Chemist Confessions

We have Gloria and Victoria of the Chemist Confessions on Ready to Launch! Today we talked about how they left their desk jobs as skincare formulators at Loreal and started Chemist Confessions. In the beginning, Chemist Confessions was just a skincare blog, but its popularity provided the opportunity for them to start their own line of skincare products. Chemist Confessions is really unique in that Victoria and Gloria are both chemists, so they are able to debunk all the labels of the skincare products you have in your cupboard. They also are able to formulate the perfect products using their background in formulation, go check them out! Victoria and Gloria open up about some of the struggles that come with owning your own line of products, but what makes it all worth it in the end. This is a great reminder that no matter who you are, stress is a part of the picture if you're looking to grow as a person and as a professional. We also give our opinion on hashtagging on instagram, and hear a really funny story from Gloria about the finish line for their first product launch.

  • Digitalism: Their Formation and Evolution As A Music Duo

Jence and Isi of Digitalism speak on what motivates them every day despite already having reached success in their careers, the importance of understanding the reality of social media, what they have in store for the future, being proud of your dreams/goals despite the point you are at in your career, and I even try to get them on the morning routine train (don't know if they're dying to jump on it). It was pretty nerve-racking going into this conversation with one of the best names in the world of electronic music, but the takeaway was golden and I could not be happier with the way this episode turned out. Enjoy!
