Like Peter Parker and Mysterio, believers are in a battle with an enemy that appears much bigger and stronger than he actually is. It's tempting to buy into what we think satan's abilities instead of what we're told about Him in God's Word. Like Spider-Man we've got to get past the fake bigness of our enemy so we can deal with the reality of our war. But our part in the battle is pretty simple, stand in what God has given, truth, righteousness, peace and faith. We battle satan with God's weapons (not Satan's) and we let God do the fighting. Why do we fight a war that's already been won?

In Toy Story 4 Woody and friends embark on an epic quest to find their lost friend Bo Peep. Along the way they make a new friend, Forky. At first Forky is afraid of everyone and constantly tries to run away, but Woody especially pursues Forky relentlessly and "saves" him over and over again - it brings to mind the old saying, 'no toy left behind.' Woody's recognition of Forky when the rest of the gang would rather ignore him is a beautiful picture of Jesus' mission, to seek and save the lost. Jesus pursues us relentlessly and is always looking for those whom God is drawing for salvation. In the New Testament Church we seek, Jesus saves.

Godzilla is no god. He only shows up when there's trouble. Doesn't care about those that he's supposed to protect. And he isn't even powerful enough to defeat his enemies on his own. That doesn't sound like a very good God. But unlike Godzilla God wants to do life with you. He cares about you more than you do and there is no one who can stand up to Him. He's an actual good God.

Everyone's been angry. We get angry about big things and little things and sometimes, no thing. But what did anger ever accomplish? We use anger as an excuse for the things we say or do and then just deal with it like it's impossible to live without. But you don't have to deal with anger, you can defeat it.

As believers our lives should change from who we were before to who we're becoming (hint: it's more like Jesus). Part of that process has to be our speech, since the words we use hold both life and death in them. Many of us growing up heard the saying, sticks and stones may break my bones but words will never hurt me, but it's not true. Our words can hurt and even kill. But here's the truth about the words we use, what comes out of your mouth started in your mind - and it's time to change.

Salvation puts us in the right relationship with God - that's His gift to us. But once were in that relationship we must make an effort to walk away from our old life and walk in the new life God has called us to in Jesus. Ultimately, whether you're the old you or the new you depends on you. If you continue in your old ways you're gonna get old results. But you can choose to be made new in your mind so that you become who God created you to be.
