Really Famous with Kara Mayer Robinson

Melora Hardin plays Jan on The Office. Yes, Jan Levinson, Michael's boss/lover/roommate.

I have a great time asking her all about The Office.

We also talk about her other roles, in The Bold Type, Transparent, A Million Little Things and tons of childhood roles in TV shows you may have grown up on.

She's also a TV director now, and recently directed an episode of The Bold Type. Plus she's working on a documentary.

We analyze life, collaboration, people and more.

Celebrity interview by Kara Mayer Robinson.

Music - Take a Chance by Kevin MacLeod - incompetech - Creative Commons

Louie Anderson moves me. When I watch him play Christine Baskets on the FX series Baskets, I literally put my hand to my heart. The humanity he conveys is almost too much. It's beautiful.

And he moves me to tears -- of joy and laughter! He's so funny and it shows as we get to know each other for the first time.

There's a little backstory here:

Last summer I shared a video clip on Instagram of my "Dream Guests." Louie, of course, was on my list. Louie saw it and said, "I'd love to be on your show!"

Long story short: It took a full year. But finally! He's on the show.

And all I can tell you is this: I KNEW IT. I KNEW he'd be a dream guest.

Join us as we genuinely talk and laugh and get into things like:

• teasing
• friendship
• family
• joy
• Baskets
• Christine Baskets
• Chip Baskets
• Dale Baskets
• Zach Galifinakis
• FX
• the book Breathe
• collecting coffee mugs
• Minnesota
• New Jersey
• why he moved to Las Vegas
• comedians like Joan Rivers and Rodney Dangerfield
• Marc Maron
• podcasts
• Italian tile
• and ooooh, so much more

This is a Really Famous classic episode: Michael Imperioli Returns. It's Michael's 2nd (of 3) times on the show.

The Sopranos Q&A (episode #1 bonus that helped kick off my YouTube channel): https://youtu.be/xBRlpJl38kw

Michael Imperioli (The Sopranos, Goodfellas, Summer of Sam) and I do an impromptu podcast - and it's so relaxed that you'll have a 100% different experience than when you listened to his original episode of Really Famous.

You'll hear:

• Who he based Christopher Moltisanti on (a real-life person! who has no idea!)
• Why he said "F that" about David Chase
• Why he knew James Gandolfini really well, but Edie Falco didn't
• Who he stays in touch with from The Sopranos
• Who he hangs out with
• What he does when he's bored
• What his kids think of him in The Sopranos and Goodfellas
• Why he moved to Santa Barbara
• Why he recently moved back to New York and is now bicoastal

We also:

• Are so relaxed that it's actually quite amusing
• Bond over childhood TV and our favorite shows now
• Analyze Spike Lee
• Laugh at each other
• Overanalyze this conversation ... and then don't
