  • How to Have Self Confidence - How To Do It

Hello Everyone & Welcome Back to the RealPositiveGirl Podcast!

Thank you so much for joining me again!

    Happy Wednesday!

This week's theme for the podcast is: How To Do It

This week I want to talk about various ways you can better your life by going over a few How To’s for personal development.

I hope these topics inspire you to keep pushing for your best self, to put yourself first & to understand that we are all a work in progress & you don't always have to have it together.

Here are some notes from today's episode:

    • Self-confidence is something I struggle with on the regular because I freak myself out believing more people care about what I’m doing that they actually do.
    • And honestly I know I’m not alone in that feeling & reaction, which is why we are going to chat about self-confidence & how to work on being more confident today.
    • Self-confidence is the trust you have in yourself & your abilities, capacities and belief that you are able to get through everyday challenges & struggles.
    • And one of the best things that comes from increased self-confidence is happiness. When you feel good about your capabilities & successes, you’re more energized & excited & motivated to try new things & go after your goals.
    • One of the biggest things that can prevent self-confidence is imposter syndrome. Continuing to have the belief that your accomplishments account for nothing & that you’ll be labeled as a fraud will for sure keep you from trusting who you are if you don’t turn it around in your mind.
    • Which is why you need to continually remind yourself of your successes, rather than your failures. I will elaborate on this in my list of tips.
    • Here are the tips I have for you on how to better your self confidence:
    • 1. Change Your Beliefs About Yourself
    • 2. Review Your Previous Wins
    • 3. Stretch Your Comfort Zone
    • 4. Know Your Values & Beliefs (values are at the core of who you are & by knowing those you can make decisions based on those values that leaves little room for doubt because it’s a part of who you are).
    • 5. Let Go of Control (by holding onto control, we can be let down & let our expectations get too high, causing disappointment & low confidence. By letting go, we focus more of gratitude & taking things as they come, which can build confidence without expectations blinding you & holding you back.)

Hello Everyone & Welcome Back to the RealPositiveGirl Podcast!

I hope these topics inspire you to keep pushing for your best self, to put yourself first & to understand that we are all a work in progress & you don't always have to have it together.

Here are some notes from today's episode:

    • Self-care is obviously an important part of living your best life, but I feel like we all so regularly focus on the fun parts of self-care & don’t highlight the more difficult things we need to do to live our best lives.
    • Self-care is all about creating a life you don’t have to regularly create an escape from.
    • Let’s also call out what self-care isn’t: Following everyone else’s advice, trying to be perfect, spending money to achieve happiness, or always trying to fix yourself.
    • Today I want to review some realistic ways to include self care in your life that will contribute to your growth as a person & bettering your life in general.
    • 1. Find Your Healthy Eating Style
    • 2. Stop Staying Up So Late
    • 3. Establish Boundaries
    • 4. Accepting You Are Enough
    • 5. Being Your Authentic Self

  • How to Forgive Yourself - How To Do It

Hello Everyone & Welcome Back to the RealPositiveGirl Podcast!

Thank you so much for joining me again!

    Happy Monday!

    • Today we are going to talk about how to forgive yourself.
    • There is no reason to not forgive yourself. It’s not like you can count on someone else to do it for you & if you don’t do it, you are just keeping yourself in misery for no reason. Plus, not forgiving yourself isn’t something that people will be impressed by or even understand. You have to forgive yourself so you can move forward in your life
    • Forgiving yourself also promotes self-awareness because you are taking the time to understand what happened, maybe what you should do in the future to avoid what happened or how to have a better experience & you inevitable grow from the experience.
    • Forgiving yourself isn’t a simple task, but it’s a necessary one to move forward in life.
    • Let’s talk about some ways to work on forgiving yourself:
    • 1. Accept What Has Happened.
    • 2. Learn the Why & the Lesson.
    • 3. Make Amends Where Necessary
    • 4. Stop Looking Back & Practice Compassion

  • Care Less What Others Think of You - Encouragements for the Year

Hello Everyone & Welcome Back to the RealPositiveGirl Podcast!

Thank you so much for joining me again!

    Happy Friday!

This week's theme for the podcast is: Encouragements for the Year

This week I want to give you ideas on what to focus on that will provide you encouragement throughout the year! I have chosen 5 things that are super important to your personal growth & that will help you on your journey to becoming your best self.

I hope you enjoy & pass these tips along to someone else that may need it!

Here are some notes from today's episode:

    • You may think, Sabrina, why are you talking about this again? It’s because in this specific instance, I don’t care that you think I talk about it too much & need to keep bringing it up to make sure we all start practicing it.
    • I’m pretty sure that caring less what others think is the best encouragement I am giving you this week to have a good year.
    • If you ever stop to think about how often we rely on someone else’s opinion or you don’t do something due to fear of someone judging you or you spend any amount of time worrying what someone else will think about you, you’ll realize it happens more than you realize.
    • And today I want to encourage you to start caring less what others think about you. It’s important to your wellbeing & personal growth.
    • And today I wanted to leave you with some tips on how to work towards caring less & less about what others think.
    • 1. Let go of perfectionism. Accept your true self.
    • 2. Realize people probably care a lot less more than you think they do.
    • 3. Accept you can’t please everyone.
    • 4. Be conscious of the people you surround yourself with.

  • Stay Steady in Your Emotions - Encouragements for the Year

Hello Everyone & Welcome Back to the RealPositiveGirl Podcast!

Thank you so much for joining me again!

    Happy Thursday!

    • Today I wanted to briefly mention keeping your emotions in order.
    • I know this doesn’t really sound like an encouragement, but it is because it can help you have a great year & practice self-awareness. Having your emotions in control can also aid in more happiness, rather than a negative alternative if your feelings are all over the place.
    • With such a different kind of year behind us & possibly more struggles in front of us before we return to a new normal status, it’s important to keep your emotions in check so you aren’t constantly overwhelmed or on an emotional rollercoaster.
    • And I don’t think I need to talk too much about emotions today, since it’s the bulk of what I talk about all the time, so we are going to jump into a short list of how to keep your emotions in check.
    • First off, don’t avoid your emotions, face them head on.
    • Next, it’s important to ask yourself if your current emotions are helpful or hurtful. Determine if what you are currently feeling is something you should continue to engage or something you need to shut down.
    • Next, plan some time to worry or freak out or stress out in a comfortable & controlled environment.
    • Next, find a distraction or have one at the ready. I suggest this only if you understand what you are feeling & don’t need to continue any reflection on those feelings.
    • Lastly, shift your perspective & incorporate appreciation.

  • Give Back As Much As You Can - Encouragements for the Year

Hello Everyone & Welcome Back to the RealPositiveGirl Podcast!

Thank you so much for joining me again!

    Happy Wednesday!

    • I talk about gratitude a lot, because it’s super important in our everyday lives. But something that is just as important is giving back to others as much as you can.
    • Giving back can look anyway you want & there aren’t really any rules or obligations/expectations. I’d say the only thing you should be wary is not engaging in helping someone just to benefit yourself. Because that’s selfish.
    • But giving back can be beneficial to you without it being all about you. But the desire to give back should come from the heart, ultimately, because it needs to be genuine. This is why I mentioned that giving back can look anyway that you want as long as it is genuine.
    • Giving back can fill you with purpose & the fulfilling feeling of contributing to those around you & in your community. It will also allow you to get to know others better, if you’re helping new friends & people in your community.
    • And I wanted to mention giving back as an encouragement for the year because it can shake things up a bit & redirect our mindsets from focusing so hard on the negative & move to something more positive & fulfilling. Like I mention all the time, we can get so caught up in obsessing over our troubles & problems without taking the time to reflect back gratitudes, blessings & hope for the future.
    • Giving back can make all the difference & if you aren’t very versed in it, you should try it out, even on a small scale, like tagging along with someone else you know that helps out somewhere.
    • But it just feels so good & I believe it’s one of the best ways to get through your own rough times by taking the focus off of what you’re going through & assisting someone else in what they’re going through. Taking time away from your own problems can bring perspective to your own problems & better prepare you for how to deal with those, when it’s time to do so.
    • There are some many ways to give back to others. You can volunteer in so many organizations like homeless assistance, churches, schools, after school activities, elderly homes, and so many more.
    • You could also just offer your time to someone in your social circle that is in need. Maybe someone needs help keeping their home tidy, or you know a mom that would be delighted with a break once a week & you watch over the kiddos or offer to teach someone a skill that you’re good at. Your imagination is the limit.
    • Even writing letters, sending donations & offering encouragement to others can be considered giving back, as long as it comes from your heart & is genuine.

  • Speak Your Mind More Often - Encouragements for the Year

Hello Everyone & Welcome Back to the RealPositiveGirl Podcast!

Thank you so much for joining me again!

    Happy Tuesday!

    • I find that so many people hold back their opinion because of fear of offending others or being judged for what they are going to say. But I’m here to tell you that there is a way for you to speak your mind more often without letting either one of these things get in your way.
    • The reason so many have trouble speaking their mind is because they were taught not to or ridiculed when they tried. It could also have been an experience of embarrassment or shame, too. Regardless of what it was, it was wrong.
    • But I want to encourage you to stand up for yourself & say what you want to say (within reason of not bashing someone else, like someone may have done to you) when you want to say it.
    • Your opinion is just as valid & appropriate as someone else’s because everyone is entitled to their opinion. But just know that opinions don’t equal facts, that includes your own. But you should still share what you think and feel with others. It’s super important you are able to contribute your own thoughts, which can allow someone else to learn from you & you them, if your thoughts are challenged.
    • Now, maybe you have some of the issues I described or maybe you don’t & the biggest thing in your way right now is not sure how to go about saying what you want.
    • I would encourage you to speak up to people you are most comfortable first. It’s a great place to start & get used to jumping into conversations or just sharing a random thought. Sharing with people you are comfortable with also allows you to not be so critical of yourself when you’re speaking.
    • When you want to share with someone, you’re going to have cut back on your internal negative thoughts & self-critical behavior.  Also, make sure you are aware of how emotional you are in your comments.
    • What should you do about your fear of ridicule & judgment & non-acceptance? Honestly, let go of it. It doesn’t matter what others think of what you say. I know it can seem like it does because acceptance & possibly of judgement is in the balance, but don’t you want people to respect you more than being out of alignment with your thoughts?
    • You should believe in the things you are saying. And don’t go into the conversation assuming no one will agree with you. And even if they don’t, that’s fine. Not everyone is going to agree; they shouldn’t.
    • Share your mind. Share your thoughts. Be confident in what you want to share. And maybe sometimes you’ll be wrong & need to be corrected, or you’ll be challenged in your thinking, which is good & great for growth, but there will also be times others will appreciate what you’re saying & want to hear more & even agree with you.

  • Spend More Time Laughing - Encouragements for the Year

Hello Everyone & Welcome Back to the RealPositiveGirl Podcast!

Thank you so much for joining me again!

    Happy Monday!

    • Life can be so serious & we spend so much time talking about negative things, problems, issues & hustling so hard that I believe it would be nice to shift a little more of that time to laughing & being more lighthearted.
    • Laughter is such a release from whatever it is you are struggling with or holding onto. I also believe laughter is a quick view of who you are genuinely & truly. As weird as it sounds, it kind of looks like a peek into your soul.
    • Laughing is one of those things that will not only lighten your mood, but can release more endorphins & actually activates your body’s response to stress. I guess this would mean that you should find more opportunities to laugh when you are in stressful situations.
    • But the main reason I wanted to talk about laughter today is because I truly believe we all need to take breaks from taking ourselves so seriously.
    • We can get wrapped up in all the things we are struggling with, trying to push through & just living with that we unknowingly push away happiness, joy & easy comforts because negative things can be so all consuming.
    • I want you to let go & live a little bit, because you deserve it. We all deserve it.
    • Have you ever experienced this? Where you realize everything you are thinking about, experiencing & talking about is negative & rarely anything positive? This is also why I speak so much about gratitude, because even if you are going through the toughest season of your life, you can still identify blessings & positives in your life to keep balanced in your mindset & life in general.
    • And I know that some of us struggle with letting the positive stuff in because we don’t want to diminish the pain of others close to us or simply don’t see a point to doing so if it can’t completely change what we are going through, but I’m here to tell you that it CAN be beneficial to what you’re going through.
    • Let me end this by letting you know that you don’t need to hide your happiness just because someone else is having trouble finding their own. You might think you are helping because you aren’t flashing your happiness in the face of others, but actually by being a role model of being happy through hard times could really benefit them, but as always, they have to make that choice. You can’t do that for them.
    • And as far as not wanting to be happy because it won’t change anything in your situation, I believe this isn’t true. You can change your situation & make it easier to get through by embracing any positives & happy situations, including laughter. Laughing & having gratitude for those moments isn’t a magic solution, but it’s a boost in the right direction.

  • Get Organized for the Year - New Year, Same You, New Mood

Hello Everyone & Welcome Back to the RealPositiveGirl Podcast!

Thank you so much for joining me again!

    Happy Friday!

This week's theme for the podcast is: New Year, Same You, New Mood

This week I want to talk to you about how important it is to know that you do not have to  recreate yourself every single year. A 'new you' is not required yearly, but it can be helpful to make some shifts & changes that will support your current work & goals. But with change can come some challenges, which I am also chatting about this week.

New year new you isn’t a bad thing. I want to make sure I mention that up front, but it’s not something I think everyone needs to live by, especially since some goals & plans extend year to year & don’t require much change.

Here are some notes from today's episode:

    • To end this week’s topic we are going to talk about how important it is to be as organized as possible in the beginning of the year.
    • Now I’m not saying you have to be super detail orientated & fixated on every single little thing, but kind of having a good idea of what you want to do, to work on & create goals around can really help you accomplish your goals even easier.
    • And you might be thinking that it’s too late to get started on being organized for the beginning of the year, seeing as we are already half ways through, but it’s not true.
    • As I have mentioned before, I think you can take the first whole month of the year to settle in. You don’t have to be ready from day one & feel like you have to be on top of it all. You may even still be deciding what you want to even focus on for goals & continued growth & that’s ok!
    • Here are some quick ideas on how to get organized for the new year:
    • Try not to have too many calendars to track everything in.
    • Create helpful routines. Daily, Weekly or Monthly.
    • Cut back on clutter piles.
    • Consider implementing a reminder system.

  • Setbacks Are Stumbling Blocks Not Stop Signs - New Year, Same You, New Mood

Hello Everyone & Welcome Back to the RealPositiveGirl Podcast!

Thank you so much for joining me again!

    Happy Thursday!

    • As the saying goes, if everything were easy, life would be pretty boring.
    • And I am here to tell you today that you should view your setbacks as only stumbling blocks & not a total stop sign.
    • Mistakes, failures, setbacks are experiences that we shouldn’t always classify as negative when there is so much to learn & grow from those moments.
    • With a new year in the making, there are inevitably going to be some setbacks that come along with changes, new goals & just muddling through new routines or returning to old routines. And we shouldn’t immediately write these things off because these are usually things we cannot avoid.
    • There are plenty of things we can avoid, but nothing is perfect & setbacks will come. It’s not a negative way of thinking, it’s just reality.
    • And I would hate for you to go into this new year believing that you can set everything up to be perfect & work out in the best way & not expect some stumbling blocks along the way.
    • But I believe the most important message I want you to know is that just because there are stumbling blocks doesn’t mean you need to stop. This shouldn’t signal any desires to give up or believe you can’t do something just because you hit a bump in the road.
    • Bumps are going to come & we have to do our best to weather those storms & make it to the other side stronger & better.
    • And, setbacks can also be a clue to let us know what isn’t working & what may need to be adjusted.
    • The last thought I want to leave you with is that by allowing setbacks in your life, you can allow those experiences to break you down & change you for the better. Sometimes our confidence & what we believe is true needs to be shaken up or shattered so it can be put back together stronger.
