  • Manage Your Mood Physically - Be In a Better Mood

Hello Everyone & Welcome Back to the RealPositiveGirl Podcast!

Thank you so much for joining me again!

    Happy Tuesday!

This week's theme for the podcast is: Be In a Better Mood

This week I want to share with you how important it is to be on top of your mood & not let it hold you, hostage, to sit in a negative pit when you don't need to.

Your mood is one of the single most important things that will dictate how you experience your day. The mood you choose or let linger will determine if you believe your day was a success, a good one, productive, forgettable or something you fear will follow you into the next day.

Here are some notes from today's episode:

    • Today I want to share with you some activities & experiences you can have that will help you shift your mood using your physical body.
    • I want to mention that there is nothing we can do about what has happened in the past. I know you might believe that focusing on what happened to contribute to you being in a poor mood may seem like the answer, but it’s not. Nothing can change what has already happened, which is why the only real option we have is to move forward.
    • And when I speak about choosing to shift your mindset, that is what I mean. Make the decision to do so & don’t get caught looking back.
    • I personally believe that doing something physical is the most fun way to change & shift your mood because you get to get up & do something. Don’t get me wrong, I love more emotionally focused ones, which is what I will be speaking about tomorrow. But when you get your body moving, it lets off some steam & stress, if that’s what you need, too.
    • Let me share with you some ways you can get your body moving to shift your mindset:
    • 1. Take A Walk
    • 2. Exercise
    • 3. Mini Dance Party
    • 4. Clean Up Around Up
    • 5. Hug Someone
    • 6. Shower and/or Change Your Clothes
    • 7. Play a Game or Puzzle

  • Why Your Mood Matters - Be In a Better Mood

Hello Everyone & Welcome Back to the RealPositiveGirl Podcast!

Thank you so much for joining me again!

    Happy Monday!

    • This week I want to talk about how to be in a better mood. And I know this might sound a little light handed for this podcast or maybe not a topic that could be deep enough, but I assure you this will be beneficial for you.
    • Our moods can go up and down all the time. Some more than others. I am apart of the some. My mood swings used to be a lot worse in the past, but I have worked hard to not let my emotions & moods take control of me & determine how I live out my days.
    • Today I want to specifically talk about why managing our moods is super important & can be beneficial to us & others.
    • Your mood is one of the single most important things that will dictate how you experience your day. The mood you choose or let linger will determine if you believe your day was a success, a good one, productive, forgettable or something you fear will follow you into the next day.
    • Your mood matters because it will be in charge of what you accomplish, too. We all know that when we are grumpy, frustrated, sad, angry or possibly another negative emotion, your ability to get things done diminishes more & more, as the day goes on.
    • And we shouldn’t want to live lives that allow our moods to hold us captive. Honestly, you don’t want to live a life with anything holding you captive. And we all know that when that happens, it’s a choice we are making to let those things do that, whether we realize it or not.
    • But if we at least start with our moods, it will be a good start to also shifting our mindsets & making beneficial changes.
    • And I want you to know that when I speak about being in a better mood or shifting your mood to something more uplifting, I’m not trying to convince you that it needs to be uplifted all the time. As you know, I talk about feeling your emotions, through & through, often & no one should be pretending how they feel. But there is something to be said about not getting stuck in those moods that are really just pits that allow us to stew in our negativity.
    • We are in charge of our own feelings, emotions, moods, decisions, so many things. It sounds overwhelming when you start to list those things out, but it’s important that you know you are in control of those things. I just have to accept the responsibility, ditch the victim mentality & move forward as best you can with the knowledge you currently have.

  • You Value Quality Over Quantity - How to Know You're Growing

Hello Everyone & Welcome Back to the RealPositiveGirl Podcast!

Thank you so much for joining me again!

    Happy Friday!

This week's theme for the podcast is: How to Know You're Growing

This week I want to share with you some things you might start to notice on your growth journey that are signs you are growing & changing.

Sometimes when we have been working hard on our journey to becoming our best selves, it can be hard to see if we have made any process, especially when you are in the thick of it. Which is why I wanted to share with you some signs to be aware of to know that you are growing.

Here are some notes from today's episode:

    • To top off the week I wanted to leave you with the idea that you know you are growing as a person because you are consciously valuing quality over quantity in your life.
    • This can be with the people you spend most of your time with, how many material items exist in your world, how much attention & admiration you get & how many places you visit. And really many other things.
    • The idea of quality vs quality means that you value the more important things, rather than having a large amount of the bulk of things. Mainly, there isn’t happiness in more.
    • Focusing on what is important is what actually matters in our lives. And when you come to realize that, that it’s ok to have less friends, less money, less things in life, you will for sure know you are growing.
    • And I understand the feeling of wanting more in your life, you think it’s going to create more happiness in your life, when it’s really only distracting you from dealing with what is really causing you to not find happiness.
    • We spend more & more money, trying to accumulate more & more friends, drown our sorrows in food, parties, people that are bad influences over us just to fill the empty spaces inside of ourselves that we think will be a fine exchange for what real happiness is.
    • Now let’s end the week talking about not how but why it’s important to choose quality over quantity:
    • 1. You’re more intentional.
    • 2. Life is more meaningful.
    • 3. Life is more efficient.

  • You Care Less What Others Think About You - How to Know You're Growing

Hello Everyone & Welcome Back to the RealPositiveGirl Podcast!

Thank you so much for joining me again!

    Happy Thursday!

    • This is a tough one. It’s so easy to get caught up in what others think about us because we can all be so insecure. We can forget who we are & make the choice to give up our own power & give it to whoever is willing to step in & give us their opinion, no matter how distorted.
    • We can also allow what others think or what we believe they are thinking about us, keep us from taking action, following through with desires & goals & being the person we were meant to be.
    • I know it’s a universal desire for everyone to be liked & accepted, but that isn’t going to be the thing that helps you create happiness in your life.
    • But have you ever thought about how you actually feel after you take in someone else’s opinion or let their opinion drive you to a decision you probably wouldn’t have made on your own? It doesn’t feel very good.
    • It’s said that people would care a lot less about what others thought of them if they knew that people don’t care about them as much as they thought. And it’s true. But I believe it’s the few people that do enjoy sharing their opinions with us about us that get in our heads & create the mindset that everyone else is the same. But that isn’t true.
    • Let’s chat about some ways we can work on caring less what others think about us:
    • 1. Stop apologizing for who you are.
    • 2. Stop overanalyzing everything.
    • 3. Stop trying to be perfect.

  • You Can Accept Those Different From You - How to Know You're Growing

Hello Everyone & Welcome Back to the RealPositiveGirl Podcast!

Thank you so much for joining me again!

    Happy Wednesday!

    • I feel like today’s & tomorrow’s points of realizing you are growing are the biggest ones & most obvious. When you realize you are able to accept others that are different from you, have opposite opinions from you or even those that don’t accept who you are but you still choose to accept who they are really demonstrates growth.
    • There is so much fear in things that are different than you, which makes it super hard to accept those that are different. People different from us can be unpredictable & hard to control. And even harder than that, some believe that if you accept someone else’s opinions, even if those are different than yours, you can feel like there is conflict in that or trying to figure out how multiple opinions considered correct could exist.
    • But it’s super important to understand that there is enough room in the world for multiple opinions, different kinds of people & the acceptance that should come along with it.
    • Sometimes when you want to accept someone different from you or an opposing opinion, you may feel like if you do, you will betray who you are & your own personal beliefs, but that isn’t the case.
    • You have to understand that there is enough room for everyone, everywhere. Life shouldn’t be inclusive to only what we accept & believe.
    • Let’s chat about how we can learn to accept others a bit easier:
    • 1. You don’t need to have an opinion on everything.
    • 2. You can only change yourself, not others.
    • 3. See it from their side.
    • 4. Realize how hurtful it would be for you to be seen as you see them.

  • You Take Ownership of Your Mistakes & Responsibilities - How to Know You're Growing

Hello Everyone & Welcome Back to the RealPositiveGirl Podcast!

Thank you so much for joining me again!

    Happy Tuesday!

    • I talk about this all the time. Mistakes are one of the best ways to grow & learn & change in the best ways. And taking up responsibility is the same, you need to carry the weight of the things you are truly responsible for because by trying to pawn those things off on someone else, you are only making yourself out to be a victim or selfish or both.
    • Taking responsibilities for your actions will not only create healthy relationships with others, but it will also empower you to know you have control over what you do with your life, which is important because a lot of times we think we aren’t in control of what is going on. This is really only a facade you are telling yourself because of fear, uncertainty, previous experiences of shame or guilt or anything else that is plaguing you.
    • When you make mistakes, go through failures, do things you may end up regretting, it can be really tough to accept that those things have happened. A lot of times it is much easier for us to blame the situation, another person or even the universe in general than to own up to what happened, learn from it & move forward.
    • And obviously the biggest part you are missing out on is learning from those experiences & getting the growth that will help you through the next part of your life. Which is kind of a bummer. How are you supposed to experience personal growth if you choose not to grow from any experiences?
    • Also, I want you to think about how immature & untrusting you sound when you are trying to push off the blame of something you know in your heart you are responsible for.
    • Let’s chat about some ways you can work on owning your mistakes & responsibilities:
    • 1. Stop blaming others.
    • 2. Know what you want. (It’s easier to take responsibility for your actions when you can identify the reasons why you made those decisions because you know what you want).
    • 3. Let go of your excuses.(You always have a choice)

  • You Become More Self Aware - How to Know You're Growing

Hello Everyone & Welcome Back to the RealPositiveGirl Podcast!

Thank you so much for joining me again!

    Happy Monday!

    • This is going to be a great week! I believe it & I’m excited to speak about this topic this week because it’s important to acknowledge when you are growing as a person. And I know it can feel really hard to identify when we are growing as people, which is why I wanted to talk about how to identify when you are growing.
    • And it’s important to realize that just because you don’t feel like you’re growing doesn’t mean you aren’t. We all know that not everything going on in our heads is the correct information.
    • Today we are going to specifically speak about knowing you’re growing by becoming more self aware.
    • Self awareness is fantastic. I speak about it all the dang time, as most of you already know. And by getting more intune with that will help you understand yourself better, solve problems easier & get through your life’s struggles without so much confusion & pain. Being self aware means you are conscious of your desires, abilities, needs, motives & feelings.
    • Now, what I have decided to do this week with this topic is to give you some times on how to improve these things that will signify your personal growth status. Just in case you feel like you still need work in that area or you’re doing great but having some additional tips wouldn’t help.
    • So let’s chat about some ways we can work on becoming even more self aware.
    • 1. Become aware of what bothers you about others. (Commonly these things bother you because these are traits you do not like about yourself.)
    • 2. Meditate to bring awareness to your current thoughts.
    • 3. Get feedback from others.
    • 4. Work on your self-talk.

  • I Deserve to be Respected - My Favorite Daily Affirmations

Hello Everyone & Welcome Back to the RealPositiveGirl Podcast!

Thank you so much for joining me again!

    Happy Friday!

This week's theme for the podcast is: My Favorite Daily Affirmations

This week I want to share with you some of my favorite affirmations that really pump me up &  get my self-confidence going, especially when I am going through some hard times.

I hope these really help you & you give these a try on the regular. I find the practice of daily affirmations, speaking these into the mirror to yourself or just quietly to yourself, can really boost your mood & ability to push through difficult times.

Here are some notes from today's episode:

    • So, I know that some people believe that respect needs to be earned, but I do not believe this. I know that you could possibly GAIN more respect from others, when showing your strengths & achievements, but there should always be a level of respect from anyone.
    • And I know this isn’t actually what happens all the time in real life, but it’s what SHOULD be happening.
    • First off, we should ALWAYS be swimming in self-respect. It’s the same practice as most things I talk about, if you don’t respect yourself first, you should not expect others to do the same. But ALSO, if you can’t respect yourself, you shouldn’t expect it to be easy to respect others, either. You have to do it for yourself first, then you can do it for others & expect others to do so, also. It’s kind of like you can’t pour from an empty glass.
    • So whether you are telling yourself this affirmation because you want to practice more self respect or you are assuring yourself that you do deserve respect from others, whether or not you are currently receiving it, it’s a great way to remind yourself that respect is important to you.
    • If you are having trouble practicing self-respect, I encourage you to try the following: remember that what others think of you shouldn’t control you & really is none of your business/don’t compromise your own values for others/don’t speak to yourself negatively.
    • I also want to remind you that you do not have to please everyone or anyone all of the time or most of the time. You also need to know where your boundary line is for being nice & kind to crossing over into being a people pleaser & just doing things for others to earn their respect, care, attention & love.
    • Try this in the mirror today: I deserve to be respected. And say it until you mean it & do it regularly.

Please share this podcast with anyone that may need this encouragement!

  • I Choose Love & Peace Over Negativity - My Favorite Daily Affirmations

Hello Everyone & Welcome Back to the RealPositiveGirl Podcast!

Thank you so much for joining me again!

    Happy Thursday!

    • I’m gonna be honest with you, choosing love & peace over negativity isn’t easy. It’s one of the hardest things to do, especially in the moment. Especially when things just seem so out of control & over the top, it can seem almost impossible.
    • But it is possible. It just takes focus & determination. Which is really tough when being negative is so much easier than choosing to focus on love & peace.
    • But I think that is why this affirmation is so great because it’s a good reminder that we need to work on choosing love & peace instead.
    • Choosing to show others love, those that cause us pain, disappointment, discomfort, or frustration is usually the last thing you want to do when you are in the heat of the moment or when you feel like the other person is in the wrong, but it’s the better choice to make. Nothing will be accomplished with anger or negativity. Nothing. You think that by making your point or showing your anger or just getting your way will make you feel better, but have you ever noticed how you still always feel crappy afterward. It’s not worth it.
    • You’re still going to feel the feelings of whatever emotion is bubbling up in you, but it doesn’t mean you need to act on those feelings or even play those up in your mind. Choosing to let those feelings go & show love will become easier over time the more you practice it.
    • And choosing to be peaceful when situations are going wrong is like one of the hardest things to do, but it can be a game changer if you practice it often enough because it can kick in quicker & quicker each time.
    • Try this in the mirror today: I choose love & peace over negativity. And say it until you mean it & do it regularly.

  • I Matter - My Favorite Daily Affirmations

Hello Everyone & Welcome Back to the RealPositiveGirl Podcast!

Thank you so much for joining me again!

    Happy Wednesday!

    • It’s possible this will be the most difficult one to recite to yourself because there can be so many instances & situations in your life that can tell you otherwise.
    • And the affirmation, I matter, is probably the one I struggle with the most because I have deep seeded beliefs that I don’t matter.
    • And it all stems from childhood, like most things do. But I have only recently done any counseling help to work on that belief. So I’m sure you’re wondering why it would be helpful for me, someone that still struggles with this, to tell you how important this is, since I’m not fully living it yet. It’s because I don’t want anyone else to feel as miserable as me & get this belief straightened out sooner than later.
    • Simply put, we all matter in this life. We all have specific purposes & we all have the same purpose, to love each other & continue to work to grow our community stronger for more unity.
    • And you don’t think you matter because you don’t feel like you’re playing a very big role in your life. Maybe you feel like your life is boring or that you aren’t making a difference. But you have to understand that you are. You are, for sure, making a bigger difference than you will ever know.
    • You don’t have to be the center of attention, super popular or have the most responsibility to be important or matter. We all have things we are responsible for, we all have truly very important roles in this world & we shouldn’t feel too disappointed in what we are here to do, since we don’t know the impact of those actions & we don’t know what is to come in our futures, either. Maybe you time to be grand & popular is coming later. Or maybe it won’t come at all because God knows that would be a little too much for you.
    • It’s easy to want something, but not take the time to really think about the repercussions of those choices. You want fame & fortune? Are you ready for everything that comes with? You matter no matter what you are here to do on this earth. I struggle with this because I love to pair together feeling insignificant & not mattering.
    • But you’re not insignificant, despite how others may treat you or tell you. And you do matter, because if you didn’t, you wouldn’t be here. Honestly.
    • It’s those moments when you give someone a smile, hold the door for someone, give a complement, choose kindness over anger, choose patience over irritation & continue to accept & work on your own faults that you are making a difference in this world.
