  • Episode 381: It's Just a Tiny Misgiving - Mix 3
Sorry for the repeat of yesterday's song, but I was listening to it last night and found some stuff I really needed to fix. First of all, in the first rap, the rhyme at the very end lands on the wrong beat - ARGH. That was quite the rookie mistake. So, I layered some vocals on top to make the rhyme land in the right place. Then the bass drops out during the "I just had a" part, which sounds all cool and mysterious. But then the bass never comes back, which in retrospect I realized is dumb...so I put bass at the end, coming in at the beginning of the second rap. See, I'd figured since the repeating "I just had a" sample has bass in it, if I recorded a bass line over it, it would have too many basses crowded together. But in the final mix, the sample is too quiet for you to hear the bass. So, there's that, too. And the last part didn't sound grand-finale-ish enough, so I added some more layers of vocals on top. Whew.

  • Episode 380: I Just Had a tiny Misgiving
Here's the second song of the fucked up relationship album I started working on. Yeah, so the way it's gonna work is: I do a song where it's the main character's public-facing self - the self that she lets the (future) boyfriend see. And the next song'll be a chopped up version of the previous song where she's sayin' some of the stuff she doesn't want the dude to know about. I'm hoping to make these chopped up songs weird and stuff. I dunno if this one is as weird as I want it to be, but it'll do.

  • Episode 379: Stop Screaming in My Ears
Then, as I was wrapping up the sad song, the little bastard next door started screaming again, so I recorded this. I'm not gonna shoot myself, though. But that particular line highlights how frustrated I am. And sorry about the distortion. I was singing so loud and lettin' out my feelings, not realizing I should have turned the gain down on the input. Sorry about that.

  • Episode 377: I Wish He'd Love Me Back
This is the first song of the new album I'm starting. I mean, okay, yeah, it's a boring old love song - that's not too exciting a start to an album. But, bear with me... when you hear the second song (which I haven't recorded yet), you'll get to see just how weird this old concept album is going to be. Or, at least, I hope it turns out weird. It's about a f***ed up relationship I was in 20 years ago. That's all I'll say for now cuz I don't wanna ruin the surprise of the next song, where the concept of the album will become clear. Stay tuned!

  • Episode 374: Get the Boxes Out of the Trunk
This song is a sequel to the song I did a few weeks ago called, "I Know I'm Gonna Be Real Sad/Put the Boxes in the Trunk." That song was about me moving from my old place and expecting to be sad. This song's about how, yes, I got sad. My prediction was correct. I'm all sad and missing my old place worse than anything.

  • Episode 372: 70 Cents Out of Here (I Want to Stay Clean)
I woke up from a dream this morning that had the chorus of this song in it. The words of it are "On this day, because it's 70 cents out of here, I want to stay clean." I figured, why not make a song outta it? So, I started writing verses, but since I'm in such a foul mood, the verses are loaded with curse words. Yes, I failed to stay clean. Dang.
