Rebinge Deep Space Nine

Hello Star Trek fans! Welcome to Rebinge Deep Space Nine S6E19: In the Pale Moonlight. In this iconic episode of DS9 Sisko has to come face-to-face with his own conscience as he works with Garak to involve the Romulans in the Dominion War. Strong performances from Stephen McHattie as Romulan Senator Vreenak and Andrew Robinson as the unforgettable Garak. We welcome Attiba Royster back to the pod this week! Attiba has been waiting 3 years for us to get to this episode of DS9! We have a lively discussion about many things including how Picard and Janeway would have behaved in this same situation. See Attiba's website, Instagram and podcast details below.

This episode takes place in flashbacks as Sisko tries to clear his conscience by recounting recent events into a log. We learn he dreads posting war casualty reports and realizes he must find a way to get the Romulans into the war. He dangerously entangles himself in a plan with Garak that he finds soul tarnishing from the drop. But does that stop him from proceeding? It does not.

Hello Star Trek fans! Welcome to Rebinge Deep Space Nine S6E18: Inquisition. In this episode we meet Section 31 for the very first time! Julian has to deal with Guest star William Sadler as Sloan who isn't exactly forthcoming with his motivations.

When Starfleet Internal Affairs turns up on the station investigating some Dominion leaks, all scrutiny seems to fall on Julian. And it seems only fair since he's been a shapeshifter AT LEAST twice! But the questions turn from nice to nasty really quickly and Julian is in handcuffs before you know it.

Hello Star Trek fans! Welcome to Rebinge Deep Space Nine S6E17: Wrongs Darker than Death or Night. In this episode, Kira makes use of a migraine trigger and finds out what really happened to her mother and it's not great. Marc Alaimo is back in this episode as Gul Dukat (unfortunately) and Leslie Hope plays Kira's mother. This is a grim and serious episode and on top of that we have to put up with Dukat! Ugh!!! But we have some great discussions about the prophets!

Kira gets an unwelcome Facetime from Dukat that sends her on a personal mission into the past. She learns some uncomfortable truths while there but she also must face her black and white views of Cardassian collaboration. Because she's Kira, even though she promises not to change the past, she's punching Cardassians pretty quickly.

Hello Star Trek fans! Welcome to Rebinge Deep Space Nine S6E16: Change of Heart where Worf and Dax go on a dangerous mission that goes awry. We discuss lots of things including the mythic Klingon Heart and also practical things like was this all Worf's fault. It's a dramatic episode with a solid ending.

Worf and Dax are sent on a mission in a runabout that ends up being a lot more dangerous than planned. They end up in a jungle trying to rescue a defecting Cardassian. Dax is fatally wounded, forcing Worf to decide between duty and his beating Klingon heart. Meanwhile back at the station, Miles wants Julian to learn Tongo just so he can beat Quark.

Hello Star Trek fans! Welcome to Rebinge Deep Space Nine S6E15: Honor Among Thieves where Miles is on a mission for Starfleet Intelligence and instead of ending up dead he ends up with a new cat! This episode guest stars Nick Tate (Bilby) and Michael Harney (Chadwick or Mr. Starfleet) along with an adorable cat named Chester (not credited on IMDb for some reason!!!).

Miles takes an undercover mission in the Orion Syndicate and it's not entirely clear if he volunteered or was voluntold. At any rate, he's in with some low-level mobsters and trying to gain information from them. Because Miles is a good guy he gets a little too friendly with everyone and Starfleet Intelligence is not amused.

Hello Star Trek fans! Welcome to Rebinge Deep Space Nine S6E14: One Little Ship and the Honey I Shrunk the Bridge Crew episode! That's right...we are shrinking down one of the runabouts and 3 members of the crew. No really, that's what happens! We have a mini ship and a mini crew. This is a decidedly upbeat episode after Far Beyond the Stars!

Bashir, Miles and Dax go on a ridiculously dangerous mission where they are shrunk down to 1% of their actual size. And when the Jem'Hadar attack, things go sideways quickly. The crew has to stop the Jem'Hadar from stealing the Defiant while the tiny crew on the tiny Rubicon search for a way to not get lost in tiny space forever.

Hello Star Trek fans! Welcome to Rebinge Deep Space Nine S6E13: Far Beyond the Stars. In this episode, Sisko slips into a vision from the prophets (maybe???) where all of our usual characters are turned into human form in the 1950s! Odo, Worf and Quark are all shockingly makeup free. Brock Peters is back as Grandpa Joe (and also a preacher) and Penny Johnson Jerald is back as Kasidy. We've also got Marc Alaimo, Jeffrey Combs and JG Hertzler out of makeup! And as if that's not enough guest stars, we also have Attiba Royster back with us on the pod. Attiba is an artist and podcaster! You can find his artwork at attibaroyster.com and you can find his podcast here.

Sisko has an intense vision where he is a writer in 1950s New York fighting against racism. Benny just wants to write a science fiction story about a place called Deep Space Nine but his publisher and editor aren't too keen on stories having people of color in powerful positions. Racism isn't the only "ism" we have to put up with in the 50s, let's throw in some sexism too! Everyone looks stunning in this intense, meaningful episode that weaves the past into the future.

Hello Star Trek fans! Welcome to Rebinge Deep Space Nine S6E12: Who Mourns for Morn? In this episode, Morn dies in an ion storm leaving all of his belongings...and a whole lot of trouble...to Quark. Doesn't take long for Quark to get pushed around by some alien bullies looking for a payoff.

When Morn mysteriously disappears and is declared dead, we learn that he left everything to Quark. Quark soon discovers Morn wasn't as rich as he'd hoped. But someone from Morn's past turns up and tells Quark about a hidden fortune of Morn's. Unfortunately the fortune is so hidden Quark can't find it! While on his search for the missing cash, a bunch of trouble from Morn's past turns up to threaten Quark.

Hello Star Trek fans! Welcome to Rebinge Deep Space Nine S6E11: Waltz. In this episode, Dukat is back (unfortunately) and we are going to spend some time looking into the confusing, deluded corners of his mind. Marc Alaimo puts in a strong performance in this guest appearance.

Dukat is on his way to stand trial when the transport ship is attacked, stranding him and Sisko together on a dark , deserted planet. An injured Sisko tries to figure out exactly what Dukat is up to, but Dukat is not exactly acting rationally. Meanwhile the crew of the Defiant searches desperately to find their missing captain.

Hello Star Trek fans! Welcome to Rebinge Deep Space Nine S6E10: The Magnificent Ferengi. In this episode Quark puts together a band of Ferengi to try and get his mother back from the Dominion. This episode is filled with guest stars including Iggy Pop as a Vorta and Hamilton Camp as Leck and returning favorites Josh Pais (Cousin Gaila) and Jeffrey Combs (Brunt).

Quark joins together with some unlikely help to rescue his mother from the clutches of the Dominion (and Iggy). With the backing of a big reward from the Nagus, Quark, Rom, Nog, Cousin Gaila, Brunt and a new Ferengi named Leck formulate a plan. But as expected, the plan is terrible as none of them are capable of keeping their cool. At the last minute a prisoner exchange is negotiated but even that goes awry in the hands of the Ferengi.
