Hi friend!
“Do you love me?” Jesus asked Peter this question three times by the fire—not because He doubted Peter’s heart, but because He wanted Peter to say it, to reaffirm it, to make it known. In marriage, that same question can linger unspoken: Do you love me? And, more importantly, how do I know? In this episode, we explore why reaffirming love through both words and actions matters—and how simple, intentional practices can deepen intimacy and strengthen your bond in marriage.

Hi friend!
Have you ever gone through a season in marriage where things just felt… off? Maybe a little distant, a little disconnected, or just kind of stuck?
If so, you’re not alone.
In this episode, we’re kicking off our new Questions Jesus Asked series — exploring powerful questions from Scripture through the lens of marriage. Our first stop is John 5:6–8 (NIV), where Jesus looks at a man who had been stuck for 38 years and asks:
At first glance, it sounds simple — but it cuts deep. Because sometimes, dysfunction feels familiar. Even comfortable. And before healing can begin in marriage, this question has to be answered honestly:
Do you really want to get well?
Whether your marriage feels distant or disconnected, this episode offers hope, encouragement, and a reminder: healing begins with a choice.
We pray this episode blesses you.

Welcome to Reconnected Marriage.
I’m David Haastrup, husband to my blessed and beautiful wife, Ebun, dad of three, co-author of A Couple’s First Ten Years, Christian Marriage Coach, and Conflict De-escalation Strategist.
Ebun and I have been married for more than 16 years, and we know what it’s like to feel disconnected while navigating work, parenting, relocation, and unexpected life challenges. We also know what it’s like to deepen our connection and intimacy over the years.
Through our marriage, my experience navigating conflict in high-pressure healthcare environments, and my work with couples, I’ve learned something important:
The argument you’re having isn’t always the real issue.
Sometimes, something deeper is happening beneath the words: unspoken expectations, emotional triggers, different perspectives, unresolved hurt, or patterns you may not even realize you’ve fallen into.
On Reconnected Marriage, I share practical tools, biblical wisdom, and real-life lessons to help you understand what’s happening beneath conflict, respond differently when things get difficult, and restore connection.
We’ll explore:
At the heart of the conversations we’ll have is this:
You don’t have to wait for your spouse to change before taking your next courageous step. You cannot control your spouse, but you can choose how you show up—and when one person chooses a new response, it can begin to change the way you relate to each other.
Maybe you’ve quietly thought:
“We love each other. So why do we keep ending up here?”
“I want us to understand each other better.”
“I want us to feel close again.”
If that’s where you are, join me as we explore practical, faith-rooted ways to deepen your connection, experience more peace and unity at home, and begin moving toward a stronger, more connected marriage.
