In this episode, Karin welcomes guest Lindley Ashline, photographer, author, cat mom, entrepreneur, musician, and activist. Lindley creates photographs that celebrate the unique beauty of bodies that fall outside conventional "beauty" standards. She fights weight stigma by giving fat people a safe place to explore how their bodies look on camera and by increasing the representation of fat bodies in photography, advertising, fine art and the world at large. Lindley is also the creator of Body Liberation Stock and the Body Love Shop.

In this episode, I am joined by father and daughter Mike and Mary Polan. After “an extremely long and painful process with many twists and turns, detours and crashes along the way,” Mary recovered from a 10 year battle with anorexia, which nearly took her life. Mike’s personal experience supporting Mary’s recovery led him to shift his passion to support parents navigating the eating disorder treatment and recovery process. He believes that, "Recovery is possible. Even in the darkest times, never lose hope. There is a fighter within all of us."

In this episode, Karin welcomes authors, parents, and advocates, Linda and Jack Mazur to the show. After losing their daughter Emilee in 2016 at the age of 35 years old to her eating disorder, Linda and Jack embarked on the heartbreaking journey of sharing Emilee’s story. After publishing “Emilee: The Story of a Girl and Her Family Hijacked by Anorexia,” they began to advocate for eating disorder funding, education, and research. Their advocacy work includes spreading awareness, understanding, and compassion, for individuals who suffer from anorexia, eating disorders, alcohol use disorder, substance use disorder, and all mental illnesses has become Linda and Jack's passion. In addition, Linda and Jack host the podcast Once Shattered: Picking Up the Pieces and run the Family Member Support Community.

In this episode, I am joined by Harriet Brown, journalist, advocate, mother, and accomplished author of numerous books including “Body of Truth” and “Brave Girl Eating.” Inspired by the experience chronicling her daughter’s eating disorder descent and recovery while writing “Brave Girl Eating,” Harriet has become an advocate for better eating-disorders treatment. She has edited two anthologies and has written for the New York Times Magazine, O, Prevention, and many other publications. Harriet is currently a professor at the S.I. Newhouse School of Public Communications at Syracuse University where she continues to write, research, and teach about eating disorders and body image as well as other issues, including family estrangement.

In this episode, Karin is joined by Dr. Wendy Oliver-Pyatt, Board Certified psychiatrist, mom, writer, and clinician who uses a bio-psycho-social model to help patients with all types of mental health conditions and a variety of undiagnosed health problems, move onto a pathway for a healthful, creative, and meaningful life.
