The desire for a rite of passage is contrasted by the desire for acceptance, but by whom? As the Millennial Generation rises to ascendancy in our timeline, so they are saddled with the responsibility to build traditions, and cast off cynicism. 

Even though holidays remind us of Traditions, most of us have spent the majority of our lives in a culture which rejects the foundations that it was built on. While this may be presented a common, though pessimistic outlook with wisps of political implications, what we find is that Millennials are reaching their zenith of tradition making, whether they like it or not. And like friends, if we do not choose them deliberately, they will be chosen for us.

Just because conversations are difficult doesn't mean that they can be avoided. In one sense Gun Culture has benefitted from theological foundation in Christianity, and on the other, philosophy and theology are considered both separate and one-and-the-same depending on the foundation. Members in the military have viewed Christianity as a question of commitment and a grounding element in the storm. 

Baret Fawbush is a Pastor, Firearms Instructor, and more who teaches firearms and from the Bible, often in the same day. While corporate America might try to draw a neat partition between these two subjects, when it comes to the important questions like justification, and morality, the line is either blurred, or in this case, nonexistent. 

When subjects mean a great deal to us, the conversations can come with a little bit of resistance, from within and without. We are thankful for this conversation with Baret Fawbush on participating in Gun Culture.

The overlap between Gun Culture and Overlanding once again come to the front with our conversation with Steve Winenger of Ripcord Industries and Rally Rats. Some start working on cars and end up building guns. Other grow up shooting and proceed to challenge their self-reliance on the road.

Ripcord Industries offers a rail at the same time that Night Vision is becoming more available, but that's just one side of the story. We address both what they considered when designing it, and what it looks like bringing something like it to market as more small manufacturers are trying to get a foothold, as well as what expertise is needed in the Culture.

At least in American Gun Culture, there are a few clearly defined point of entry such as Military Experience, Hunting, or Competition shooting. But these backgrounds give no guarantees. It has been more than a decade since Chris Blau started behind the Gun Counter, and as we look back at how we got here, we also get a chance to look at what's over the horizon.

1911 Syndicate accomplishes an unexpected fusion of Gun Culture with Real Estate, and once you look at it, the two subjects come together as our community expands beyond the Gun Safe. 

While we remark on what achievement might look like, we're regularly reminded that the milestones are just stepping stones at this point.

Josh Froelich represents the higher echelon of competition shooting, but that's simply the introduction. One key aspect of Gun Culture is how we experience the relationship between gear, practice, performance, and goal setting. While some say things like mission-dictates-gear, it's not uncommon to find similar principles albeit with different language in the competition scene. 

While the conversations starts with chasing widgets, Josh Froelich talks about what it took for him to keep improving, the pitfalls of mindset, and the milestones that led to where he's at. The microcosm of Competition echoes outward into the macrocosm of Gun Culture.

From the outside looking in, it may be easy to define military members by their unit, record, or number of deployments. But from the inside looking out, individuals in the military have hobbies, and interests which ride on a narrow line of defining who they are. Turns out the age of individualism comes with the threat of perpetual identity crises.

Chris Fettes talks about the need for acceptance and how it motivated him to become a Navy SEAL. After leaving the military, he has carried on an interest in both Ice Cream and Saving Lives into new ventures going forward.

While media outside the military simplifies SEALs as the elite of the elite, and those in the military sometimes describe them as the counter-culture of Special Operations.
