The topic of Gear Selection comes up more often than just about anything else in Gun Culture. This would be a good thing if we could just come to terms about why we were having these talks, share common ground about qualifications, and do so with honesty about the subject. But that isn't always the case. 

More often than not, debates over gear can be quickly settled out on the field, or in a competition, and so forth. The problem, however, arises when trying to determine the criteria involved. 

So, as it stands, the subject about gear itself may be stupid, but it has a boon, one necessary to the foundation of our society.

After 14 years in Special Operations, Nathan Spearing exchanged a life of military achievement and adrenaline for a more valuable dedication: his family. His story stands in stark contrast to the millions of veterans who struggle with transitioning, not because they had challenges to face, rather that in addition to the hardships of leaving the known for the unknown, his departure came with hooks attached. 

Now, the Spearing family has built a life for themselves, focusing on productive property, and he gives an account of what that looks like, from the perspective of a father, a husband, and a former Special Operator.
