None of us likes to be told what to do. Some of us break into hives at the mere mention of the word “authority”. The rest of us at least get defensive and suspicious, or work to ensure that we’re the ones who have the authority. In this sermon, we will continue our series with Luke 4:31-44. We see Jesus’ authority on display. His Word and teaching are unlike any other. He has power over this world, both spiritual and physical. He is on an unstoppable mission.

In this sermon, we finally jumped into the narrative of the Gospel of Luke, with the temptation of Jesus in 4:1-13. This is a great text that gives us a unique glimpse into who Jesus is, and what He experienced when he walked this earth. This text also leads the way to Jesus’ public ministry. It comes at a particularly good time for us. As we look to a new year we will be able to see what life looks like when we are led by the Spirit.
