In this sermon, we finally jumped into the narrative of the Gospel of Luke, with the temptation of Jesus in 4:1-13. This is a great text that gives us a unique glimpse into who Jesus is, and what He experienced when he walked this earth. This text also leads the way to Jesus’ public ministry. It comes at a particularly good time for us. As we look to a new year we will be able to see what life looks like when we are led by the Spirit.

We finish our Advent series through Luke’s genealogy in Luke 3:23-38 as Pastor Jon Rees leads preaches about “Jesus, Son of Boaz.”

Boaz is a key figure in the book of Ruth. He provides for Ruth and protects her as her kinsman redeemer. Ruth’s story is a fantastic one, and one that helps us better understand the character of God and the beauty of the gospel.

We continue our Advent series through Luke’s genealogy in Luke 3:23-38 by looking at Jesus, Son of Zerubbabel. Besides having a name that is fun to say, Zerubbabel is a key figure in the return of God’s people from exile. Taking a particular look at Haggai 2:23, we see how Zerubbabel provides a type, or form, through which we can better understand Jesus.
