Ref the District

For the most part, free agency in the NFL is finished.  Sure there are still plenty of names out there but most teams have spent their cap space and unless they make moves to free up more space, teams are finished.
So what does the NFC East look like?  Did the Eagles and Cowboys get worse? Did the Giants and Commanders get better?  Who is now the favorite in the division.

Also, Magic Johnson has been added to the Josh Harris group as a minority investor.  Is this a last gasp effort for the group to try to win the bid or is it simply a way to spice up their winning bid in the eyes of the league who is desperate to show diversity?

Lastly we'll talk about the sad state of affairs for DC sports teams.  All 4 teams, Commanders, Nationals, Wizards and Capitals are going to miss the playoffs this year.  Is there any hope on the horizon?

All of that and more on Episode 113 of Ref The District!

As the start of the new year is upon us in the NFL, the free agency season has brought plenty of excitement to the offseason.  The Washington Commanders made subtle moves to their roster.  They signed Daron Payne to a massive long term deal while also signing OL Andrew Wylie from the Chiefs and Nick Gates from the Giants.  They also signed special teams pro bowler Jeremy Reaves to an offer sheet, re-signed CB Danny Johnson and picked up Cam Dantzler off waivers from the Vikings.

But what could be seen the most divisive move so far, free agent quarterback Taylor Heinicke signed a 2 year deal with the Atlanta Falcons that could be worth up to $10M per year.  Apparently the Commanders were unwilling to commit that sort of money to their backup QB.

We'll also talk about our groundbreaking (first ever fan podcast to interview Jason) with Commanders president Jason Wright.

The NFL Combine has completed and there are some impressive players coming out of the draft.  Free Agency begins next week and there are plenty of available players that can help the Washington Commanders. Don't forget Lamar Jackson! The Ravens placed the non-exclusive tag on him which means he can be had for 2 first round draft choices and about $250M!!

On this episode we'll talk all about what the priorities should be for the Washington Commanders and what we think they should do this offseason.  We'll also talk a little more about the sale of the team and new information concerning Dan Snyder.
