Katie Laleman from the Henry County Farm Bureau tells WKEI that the Farm Bureau is ready for the Henry County Fair. Katie and other members of the Farm Bureau will be at the Fair with Ag information and taking part in various ag related activities at the fair. And, as usual, the Henry County Farm Bureau will be part of the Kiddie Tractor Pull as they've been for the past several fairs. Katie Laleman also talked with WKEI about the Farm Bureau's next Market Outlook Seminar in July and Ag Safety week which is just around the corner.

Businessman Bret Nicklaus is challenging State Senator Win Stoller for the Republican nomination for State Senate from District 37. Mr. Nicklaus joined Wake Up Tri-Counties this week to talk about being driven by his faith and social issues to run for State Senate. Mr. Nicklaus discussed his background and one of his biggest issues, his support for the 2nd Amendment. Mr. Nicklaus tells WKEI that the best way to curb gun violence is to address mental health concerns in Illinois and across the country.

The Kewanee Friends of the Animals are celebrating 10 years helping local pets. As part of their celebration they are paying off 10 veterinary bills as a thank you to the people of Kewanee. Kathy Werderman with the Friends of the Animals was our guest on Wake Up Tri-Counties this week to talk about the celebration, the anniversary, and the fact that the Friends of the Animals were winners in The Best of Tri-Counties Voting including a Gold Medal as the favorite place for people to Volunteer.

Colby Hathaway and Lance Camp are in the running to become the next judge on the bench in Henry County. The two candidates participated in a forum with the Kewanee League of Women Voters. That forum aired live on WKEI on Wednesday, June 1st. On the agenda were questions about drug court in Henry County, the backgrounds of the candidates, and why the decide to get into the running to become a judge in Henry County.

RaeAnn Tucker from the Henry and Stark County Health Department was our guest on Wake Up Tri-Counties on Thursday. COVID-19 numbers in Henry and Stark Couinty were up slightly over the previous seven day span. 85 new confirmed cases were tallied between the two counties for the seven day period ending on Tuesday, May 31st, 2022. This may push Henry and Stark County into the Moderate Risk category for COVID-19 infections after having been in the low risk category last week. That determination by the Illinois Department of Public Health will be announced on Friday. The low, moderate and high risk designations each indicate the level of infection and recommended mitigation efforts recommended.
