Marsha Williams is one of the several candidates for Congress among Democrats running to replace Cheri Bustos in the 17th Congressional District. Williams, who works in the trucking industry, helping people get placed in jobs, tells WKEI that she decided to run because of her background and desire to help more people find work. The pool at Northeast Park is now open. Andrew Dwyer, Kewanee Parks Director joined Wake Up Tri-Counties on Tuesday morning and told WKEI about the decision to open the pool one week earlier than usual and just in time for the Memorial Day Weekend. Andrew also discussed the beginning of summer baseball with a large number of new ballplayers, including enough to field two Pony League teams for the first time in a couple seasons. Congressman Darrin LaHood is navigating a new district map. Having been redistricted into a brand new 16th District, after Illinois lost a Congressional representative in the census, LaHood is making a return to Kewanee and Henry County which were part of his district as a member of the State House of Representatives. Congressman LaHood spoke to WKEI about the troubled redistricting process, the sky high price of gas, Ukraine, and several other high profile topics on Wednesday's edition of Wake Up Tri-Counties on WKEI.

Salvation Army Summer Camps are back! After a 2 year COVID-19 halt on Summer Camp activities for the Salvation Army, Eddie Tolliver tells WKEI that Salvation Army Summer Camps are returning next month with three separate camps for local kids. Teen Camp will run from June 6th to June 9th. Kids Camp is open from June 14th to the 16th. And finally, Music Camp June 18th to the 25th, For more information contact the Kewanee Salvation Army and they will be help get your child set up to attend a Salvation Army Summer Camp next month.

Galva Mayor Rich Volkert was our guest on the Wednesday, May 25th, edition of Wake Up Tri-Counties. The Mayor joined WKEI to wrap up Monday's Galva City Council Meeting. Among the topics were the approval to start work replacing lead pipes in the last part of the city where such pipes are still in use. It's part of a state and national project and should be getting underway in the near future. Mayor Volkert also promoted the upcoming Galva Citywide Clean-Up and the excitement surrounding the return of the Levitt Amp Galva Music Series this weekend.
