We are just over a month away from the Annual OSF Saint Luke Medical Center Golf Classic. This year's event will take place on June 6th at 11:15 Am at Midland Golf Club in Kewanee. Food will be served and tee time is set for 12 Noon. Sponsors are needed as part of the fundraising effort which benefits the OSF Healthcare transportation fund which gives rides to patients in need for routine medical check ups and other such appointments that OSF patients may not be able to travel to on their own. Josh Hoyer and Soul Colossal are from Lincoln, Nebraska and we spoke with Josh about how a bunch of guys from Nebraska got into Soul Music. We also talked to Josh about his and the band's travels since touring started up again and before COVID-19 when the band became a very popular touring act. Showtime on Sunday at the Bishop Hill Creative Commons is 7 Pm with a 6 Pm Potluck Dinner. A suggested donation of $20 to $30 dollars is asked in order to pay the band.

The first Wethersfield School Play post-COVID-19 and in front of a live crowd will take place this weekend, Saturday April 31st and Sunday May 1st, in the Wethersfield High School Gym. The play Once Upon a Crime: The Trial of Goldilocks is a play that combines famous fairy tale characters with a courtroom drama and has Goldilocks, played by Alivia Lempke, on trial for stealing porridge from The Three Bears. Katelyn Carmen plays Goldilocks' lawyer, Henny Penny, and Chayton Feltz portrays the prosecutor, Tom Thumb. The three actors along with show director Laura Evans were our guests for a preview of the play on Wake Up Tri-Counties on Wednesday.

State Senator Win Stoller was our guest on Wake Up Tri-Counties to offer his reaction to the recently signed Illinois budget. State Senator Stoller tells WKEI that the budget was delivered late at night and with little time for lawmakers to review the budget before having to vote on it. State Senator Stoller is proposing a bill that would require lawmakers get at least two weeks to review a budget bill before it can be voted on. State Senator Stoller also discussed elements of the recently passed Illinois budget which includes what is being billed as a reduction in the gas tax but what is in reality a delay in the raising of gas taxes by 2.6 cents per gallon. The rise in the gas tax will now occur six months later than it was first intended to go into effect.
