  • Episode 406: Going Sulu
Fans of Isaac Asimov have been waiting decades for an adaptation of his groundbreaking sci-fi series Foundation. Many have said it's unfilmable. It certainly is dense and a challenging narrative to translate to the screen. This week the Regular hosts, plus Irregular Joe Brian Mix, take a look at the first episode of Apple's lavish and ambitious effort to bring the millennium spanning tale to the masses. Or at least to their customers who need something to watch other than Ted Lasso. Brian also takes some time to catch the Joe's up on some of his recent adventures. Most notably hanging out with George Takei on the reproduction Star Trek original series set in Ticonderoga. All this plus the usual Random Topics, a round of What's in the Box. Who could ask for more? Ok, so world peace and some flying cars would be good. But for now you get episode 406. Thanks for Listening!

  • Episode 405: Cruella, Silvio and Andy
DC's Titans is back for a third season, and now on HBO Max. Which is a big step up from living exclusively on a niche streaming service that no one knew how to find. It's also freakin awesome. And, frankly the Joe's would've talked about it sooner if Barry had caught up with the episodes. If you haven't watched there will be at least minor SPOILERS. As previously mentioned the Regular Joe's got sucked into another Star Trek prop auction. In the unlikely case that you have ever wondered how three guys work out dividing up six screen used (The Trouble with Edward) Tribbles. you should definitely listen. There's also the usual random topics, and a round of What's in the Box heavily leaning towards Lasers and Lightsaber wielders. Thanks for Listening!

  • Episode 404: Fall TV, TV Falls
Remember when we would eagerly review the new fall TV offerings, excited for a glimpse of what might be a new favorite show. Those years seem far behind us now ... at least two years behind us. This week the Regular Joe's rundown the decidedly thin offerings for fall TV. There are a few hopefuls including Apple's Foundation adaptation, Hulu's Y the Last Man, La Brea on NBC, and Ghosts from CBS. There are also some returning favorites. Dave is excited for Nancy Drew, Barry can't wait for season 411 of Survivor, and Tod has endured the shortest hiatus ever between seasons 6 and 7 of Legends of Tomorrow. The PropStore Star Trek Discovery Auction has ended and what the Joes purchased will come as a surprise to pretty much no one. There's also "Joes Choice", because they couldn't agree on What's in the Box, What's on My Workbench or Show and Tell. Thanks for Listening!

  • Episode 403: Dubious, Indifferent or Barry
After what seems like a long drought of TV shows and Movies to get excited for, several trailers and teasers have dropped giving even the most cynical of us (Dave) cause for hope. First up there's Star Trek, lots and lots of Star Trek. The franchise that CBS (now Paramount+) built their streaming platform on the back of is back with more iterations than most of us ever imagined. Lower Decks continues, Discovery is cued up for season 4, Picard returns to tried and true formulas, Prodigy . . . well, so far no one cares. Then there is Star Trek: Strange New Worlds, which seems to be the thing most everyone agrees on. In December HBO Max (also in theaters) brings us back to the Matrix. Whether we are ready for that or not. Red pill or poison pill? There's also What's in the Box . . . including Dave's previously teased, screen used, culinary implement/ improvised weapon, prop acquisition, and the usual Random Topics. Thanks for Listening!

  • Episode 402: August Adventures
After their two week break the Regular Joe's are back and we catch up on what they have been doing. Tod seemingly squandered his time getting ready to start his 24th year of school ... and not buying a vintage 240z, while his cohosts took off on their own late summer adventures. Barry opted to make a return Trek to the final frontier, now located in Ticonderoga New York, while Dave visited a Galaxy far, far, away … in Orlando. In yet another instance of consumer codependency they all each received the long awaited Hot Toys Endgame Captain America figure which prompts a rare 3 way What's in the Box … really, that's sounds a lot worse than it is. While they're at it Barry brings up the issue of whether or not size matters. OK really I'm just gonna stop now. Lastly, just because stuff keeps happening there's the usual round of Random Topics. It's good to be back. And, as always thanks for listening!

  • Episode 401: "THE" Suicide Squad
For this week's episode we threw together a band of troublesome lone operators and tasked them with watching and reporting back on The Suicide Squad, an apparent sequel that tries desperately not to be a sequel. Not surprisingly, the usual bad actors, joined by the notorious Derryl DePriest, ultimately completed the mission but failed to achieve overall consensus. Dissenting opinions aside, James Gunn can take a lump of @#$&% and make it awesome. Note there will be SPOILERS like, a giant freakin Starfish kaiju from space nearly takes over the planet. But you probably saw that coming. They also take a first pass at Marvel's What If, with again, widely ranging reactions. There's also the usual Random Topics and a round of What's in the Box. Thanks for Listening.

  • Episode 400: The More Things Change...
For their 400th episode (more or less) the Regular Joe's dug into the vault and pulled out "episode zero." Although periodically mentioned, this episode has never been released. There's some good reasons for that. Which the Regular Joe's of 2021 point out as they listen to their 2013 selves take a first stab at recording a podcast. This episode contains several notable firsts. Including Dave's first swipe at Maggie Gyllenhaal, Tod's first recorded takedown of Star Trek The Motionless Picture (which he still claims ruined his childhood despite it being released when he was 16) and Barry's initial attempt to convince his cohosts that a given film is actually better than they think. Perhaps the big surprise is that, after this they recorded 399 more episodes. As always, thanks for listening!

  • Episode 399: He Who Dies With the Most Toys Wins!
"Everyone is excited about the new Ghostbusters film," Which, frankly, is a phrase we haven't been able to say since 1989. The trailer for Ghostbusters: Afterlife looks incredible. As we creep closer to the film's November release trepidation over the franchise's next incarnation is rapidly being replaced by eager anticipation. Who you gonna call? Next up the Regular Joes ask the question, do you add to the collection or do you upgrade? There has never been a time like this for 1/6 scale collectors. Hot Toys and other companies are putting out amazing stuff, then upping their game. Between the three hosts there are hundreds of, not inexpensive, Marvel, Star Wars and other licensed figures. This week they discuss just how one goes about deciding to commit the money and space to yet another version of a given character. Do you go the Barry and Tod route, amassing cadres of Stormtroopers, Luke Skywalkers, iron Men and Black Widows? Or take the Dave approach and go for a more reigned in strategy of having a (mostly) single representation of each character and possibly upgrading over time? Don't expect a definitive answer. There's also the usual Random Topics, and the near inevitable What's in The Box. Thanks for listening!

  • Episode 398: Loki, Low Key?
Ok, so if there is one thing for certain about the Marvel Cinematic Universe based shows streaming on Disney+ we never quite know what we are getting. WandaVision kept people guessing. Falcon and the Winter Soldier was the can't miss vehicle that somehow never quite got out of Captain America's giant shadow. And then there's Loki. What could be better than a series about the charismatic, and occasionally sociopathic, Norse God of Mischief? How about a series about more Lokis that you can, or probably would not want to, imagine? With lots and lots of magic? mischief? And mayhem? Or maybe not. Well, there was really a lot of talking. And that's good because if you are setting up the next phase of the MCU you want to establish a solid foundation to build on. Yeah, again, not so much. Listen in as The Regular Joes continue to process what they just saw. There will be SPOILERS. There's also the usual Random Topics, and of course What's in The Box. Thanks for listening!

  • Episode 397: "Your a Total Poser"
Remember way back like 10 years ago when we would wait years or even a decade to see the next film in a franchise released? Marvel changed that giving us as many as four MCU films in a single year . . . until they didn't. The unbearable 2 year gap between Spider-Man Far From Home (2019) and the long delayed Black Widow is over. The First (female) Avenger's solo film is finally in theaters, or if you pony up extra cash, in your living rooms via Disney +. This week the Regular Joes weigh in with their thoughts on Black Widow and what it means to have the Marvel Studios machine back on track. Note there will be SPOILERS. Last week two of three Joes checked out The Tomorrow War (2021) on Netflix and Archive (2020) on Amazon Prime. This week, Barry, and Dave catch us up on the films they hadn't seen. While they sort of avoided SPOILERS last go round this time the gloves come off. While Tod continues to insist there's nothing close to surprising in Tomorrow War, there is a twist in Archive. So you may want to check those out before listening. There's also the usual Random Topics, and some What's in The Box, because well, stuff. Thanks for listening!
