  • Episode 396: Summer of Streaming
As we move in into a summer that seems to alternate between extremes of very hot and very wet, the Regular Joes catch up on their recommendations for what to watch if you are stuck inside. To the surprise of no one who listens, Tod recommends Evil, formerly on CBS now "the best reason to have Paramount Plus." Dave makes a pitch for Bosch in it seventh season on Amazon Prime. And Barry gives un update on the Bad Batch on Disney Plus. They also discuss (mostly spoiler free) a pair of films that two of them have recently seen. The Tomorrow War (2021) on Netflix and Archive (2020) on Amazon Prime. Both receive high marks . . . but from only one viewer. You may have to watch yourself and break the tie. There's also the usual Random Topics, and brief cryptic references to a screen used prop that Dave is now rationalizing the purchase of. No doubt more on that soon. Thanks for listening!

  • Episode 395: Bring Me the Heads of Statler and Waldorf
After the five Regular Joe's spent much of the afternoon engrossed in day one of the Prop Store auction Barry, Dave, Tod and Brian got together to decompress, recover from a brutal case of price shock, and mourn the ones that got away. There are a lot of things that have changed in the last year. Who could have imagined that one of the them would have been the price of Film and TV production props. Once the obscure province of nerdy collectors of entertainment ephemera, the prop marketplace has changed to include Friday the 13th Jason masks that go for Bentley list prices. Let's not even get started on Indy props. There's still two days to go. Even money on whether Episode 396 finds our hosts significantly poorer, or simply more depressed. Thanks for listening!

  • Episode 394: Off The Rack Indy
Following up on last episode's prop auction discussion, and in celebration of the 40th Anniversary of Raiders of the Lost Ark, this week the Regular Joes plus Irregular Joe Derryl DePriest talk Indy. First up is a review of the surprising number of Indiana Joes items that can still be sourced from their original suppliers. Next they delve into the amazing 2008 Indy toy line Derryl was instrumental in creating, and then run down the essential replica artifacts for the dedicated Indy collector. While Derryl, long time steward of Hasbro's G.I. Joe line is on deck, they also check out the spate of trailers for Snake Eyes: G.I.Joe origins that just dropped. And, of course, there's also the usual Random Topics. Thanks for listening!

  • Episode 393: Fedora Dreams
As the world slowly inches toward normalcy one by one the displaced priorities of our recently paused lives begin to reassert themselves. For the Regular Joes nothing says normal quite like pouring over several hundred pages of props up for auction. Most are unobtainable, many others are impractical, but that doesn't really curb the deeply rooted desire to possess a tangible piece of cinematic or television history. This time around it's the upcoming Prop Store Auction that triggers the internal rationalizing process which so often does not end well. For this episode Barry Dave and Tod are joined by prop aficionado Brian Mix, who's own wish list is already quite long. Brian also catches the Joes up on some of his recent adventures. Who knew actually getting out of the house could be so much fun. There's also the usual random topics, because well, random happens. Thanks for Listening!

  • Episode 392: e-LOKI-ution
With their Anniversary odyssey of cinematic enumeration behind them the Regular Joes are back in the saddle. This week they waited to record until they had all seen the first episode of Disney+/Marvel Studios Loki. So, if WandaVision was weird and intriguing, and Falcon and the Winter Soldier fell somewhat shy of expectations, the third time should be the charm . . . like a magic charm? Work with me here. At first glance Loki is everything we expected and seemingly more. Turns out the eons old Norse god of mischief may have room for personal growth after all. And of course, because you missed it, there's the usual Random Topics and a Round of What's in the Box. SPOILER Dave buys more tools and Barry buys more Star Wars action figures. Come on people, it's been eight years, it's not like you shouldn't see these things coming. Thanks for Listening!

  • Episode 391: 8 Years, 100 Movies Pt. 2
To the total surprise of no one who listened to last week's episode, this week the Regular Joes complete their top 100 favorite films of all time counting down from 50 to the highly contentious number one. Seriously people, Loki doesn't start on Disney+ for another few days so what else do you have to do. To follow along with the Joes you can see the 50 to 01 slide show at RegularJoes.com To check out the video version of the podcast go to https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=F3ij2UbspOI. • Episode 390: 8 Years, 100 Movies
This week the regular Joes Barry Dave and Tod , and the Irregular Joes, Derryl and Brian get together to nominate, aggregate and calculate the definitive list of their top 100 favorite films. On any given day it's hard getting all five of these guys to agree. But this isn't just any day, or any episode, it also marks the eighth anniversary of the Regular Joes Podcast. So sit back, pour yourself a delicious, and possibly elaborate, beverage, and learn in real time along with the Regular Joes (expect for Tabulator in Chief Derryl) just which films make the cut. For beverage suggestions check out the Joes themed drink recipes at RegularJoes.com. And check out the first ever video version of the podcast on YouTube, search Regular Joes Podcast. • Episode 389: What's in the Boxes?
With all the stuff the Regular Joe's buy you would probably expect a lot of duplication (or is it triplication) between their respective collections. It doesn't really happen all that often. This week everyone got a long awaited package and everyone was extremely happy with what they got. Honestly when you take a superb figure like Hot Toys Star Wars Mandalorian then you throw in, not one, but two, baby Grogos how can you go wrong. Really you can't. After that there was a lot of talking, and then, just like for the previous 8 years and 388 episodes pretty soon an hour had gone by. Some where along the way they squeezed in some Random Topics and a round of What's in the Box, where shockingly, Dave had a tool, Tod had a book, and Barry had a Star Wars prop. No, this isn't a rerun. Tune in next week for our eighth anniversary episode including the first part of our Desert Island DVD Deluxe Edition Regular Joes One Hundred Favorite Films Countdown. Thanks for listening!

  • Episode 388: You Should Read the Comic
Whenever Tod sets his hopes really, really, high, they are usually crushed. Ok, except for maybe The Martian, Daredevil, and almost every Marvel movie after Iron Man 2. Anyway, it seems like a prerequisite for actually enjoying Netflix's superhero family drama Jupiter's Legacy is having no familiarity with the source material. Next up it's the newest entry in the pantheon of Disney/Star Wars properties shepherded by Dave Filoni (Clone Wars, The Mandalorian etc.). When you put "Bad" in the title you kind of set yourself up to a standard. Is The Bad Batch "great" no, not really. Is it "bad" no it is definitely not bad. In an oddly unanimous opinion, all three hosts (including Barry) think the Bad Batch is "good" with room for improvement. Listen in to find out exactly why. There is also a round of What's in The Box, the Usual Random topics, and a brief tribute to our favorite 1980's era car hood surfing redhead. Thanks for listening!

  • Episode: 387: May the . . . For All Mankind
As the Regular Joes, joined by Semi- Regular Joe Brian Mix, record this episode it is May the Fourth, a day Sci Fi fans have long awaited, as Andy (The Martian) Weir's new novel, Project Hail Mary, is released. In other news May the fourth coincidentally also happens to be "Star Wars day" the most legit of the made up sci-fi franchise holidays, and the Joes acknowledge some of the ways (mostly commercial) the day is observed. Next, three of the most dedicated fans of Apple's For All Mankind, and also Barry, work through through the, seemingly inevitable, conclusion of the second season. For All Mankind depicts an alternate reality where the Soviets put the first man on the moon and a decade and a half later the space race has not only continued but has escalated to lunar armed conflict. For anyone who predicted this will not end well, pretty much yeah. There's also a more reigned in than normal round of Random Topics and a childhood keepsake round of Show and Tell clearly dominated by Brian and Dave, who apparently still have everything they've ever owned. Thanks for listening, and, May the Fourth be with you!
