  • Episode 366: We Have Seen the Future and it is . . . Disney
If you are a Star Wars fan, or a Marvel fan, or a fan of anything else that comes from the entertainment juggernaut that is Disney last week Christmas came early. Disney's investors Day 2020 detailed, more or less, plans for dozens of Disney + TV series, including at least 10 Marvel and 10 Star Wars offerings, coming in the next three years. Oh, and films, you want films, Marvel, Star Wars, Indiana Jones and a whole lot of kid stuff the Joes didn't really care about. This giant sized info dump gave the Regular Joes much to talk about, ponder, and speculate on as they get ready for the streaming onslaught in 2021. It's a Tsunami of nerdy goodness heading our way. Ride the wave baby! There's also the usual Random Topics and a round of What's in The Box. Oh, and they never even get around to talking Mandalorian. Go figure. Thanks for Listening!

  • Episode 365: The Bantha in The Room
For those of you who never expected to see the words "Star Wars" and "Holiday Special" used together again in any authorized way, Disney+ offers up an animated Lego revisitation of the Life Day holiday celebration. Does it improve upon the original? That's kind of a low bar. Without question, it's the best Star Wars Holiday Special constructed of Legos we have seen … so far. Ok, so just in case you are the one person in the galaxy who doesn't think the Mandalorian is the Star Wars flavored awesomeness we have been craving for well … decades, you are going to have to suck it up and sit through the Joes talking about Mando yet again. Look, people its the Bantha in the room, you can't not talk about it. There's also Random topics, a round of Whats in the Box, all part of the Joe's selfless effort to jumpstart our economic recovery. Thanks for listening!

  • Episode 364: Going, Going ... Grogu?
This week the Prop Store held another auction of rare and one of a kind items from film and television. While it is true most of us can't afford to swim among the big fish who will gobble up these goodies it's also fun to play the home game, and peruse the catalog for the props we would most want. This most recent auction offers up quite a selection and the Regular Joes have whittled down their lists to those items they most covet ranging from the Star Wars universe, to Bruce Lee films, to the inevitable Tom Cruise artifact. Ok, yes last week they talked Mandalorian, but that was before Dave Filoni brought one of Barry and Tod's favorite Clone Wars characters into the live action Star Wars universe. Oh, also The Child (aka Baby Yoda) gets a name, and the stage is set for one of the most well known characters in the no longer canon Star Wars Expanded Universe. If any of this last paragraph make sense to you just listen! There's also What's in the Box. Thanks for listening!

  • Episode 363: Mando Musings with Tom Spina
The Regular Joes are joined by Tom Spina, the man behind Regal Robot and Tom Spina Designs to discuss the reason we all subscribe to Disney +, The Mandalorian…specifically, the first half of season 2. They also talk about all the cool things going on in Tom Spina's shop, the new items available from Regal Robot and the Black Friday sales. There's also a round of Whats in the Box and more. As always, thanks for listening!

  • Episode 362: The Wizard of Odd
It doesn't take much effort to rewatch a film like Goldfinger. It shows no commitment to cue up The Rock. What takes true dedication is committing 102 extremely long minutes to a film that you know Is going to be excruciatingly bad. This week the Regular Joes pay tribute to the late Sean Connery by watching the the 1974 John Boorman sci-fi/Fantasy film Zardoz for the latest installment of Disaster-Piece Theater. And, because misery loves company, they bring long-time friends Jim Bush and Derryl DePriest along for the ride. Please Note: the Regular Joes Podcast accepts no responsibility for any lasting psychological effects suffered by listeners who choose to watch this film. There's also the usual Random Topics and an extra large helping of What's in The Box. Thanks for listening!

  • Episode 361: Prop Dreams
The Regular Joes love props. The allure, realistic or otherwise, of owning a tangible piece of movie or television history is undeniable. This week the Joes check out The Stuff Dreams are Made Of, reputedly the first podcast dedicated to collecting screen used props, created by Hollywood writers David Mandel and Ryan Condal. While many of us dream of laying hands on some of the big screen's holy grails these two guys have done it. There's also the usual Random Topics, a round of What's in The Box, and Tod briefly forgets what month it is. Thanks for listening!

  • Episode 360: Loot Krayt
The Mandalorian, Disney+'s flagship streaming Star Wars property, is back for a second season and it's off with a bang. The episode puts to rest decades of speculation about a fan favorite character and digs into Star Wars mythos like a huge sand burrowing creature. The Joes liked it so much they watched it twice and invite you rewatch and follow along as they offer live commentary. But first, the Joes address the passing of Sir Sean Connery, the actor who both defined Ian Fleming's James Bond, and then transcended the role with iconic performances in films like The Untouchables (1987), Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade (1989) and The Rock (1996). Thanks for listening!

  • Episode 359: Space Programs
Astronauts have been the subject of TV shows going back to the space program's origin. Many series have tried but few have captured and sustained audience interest. On the heels of Apple's alternate history Apollo saga For All Mankind Disney+ takes a second pass at adapting Tom Wolfe's The Right Stuff. Will this narrative of the formative years and indomitable men of NASA's Mercury Program resonate with watchers today ... or is this just Mad Men in Space? The Joes check out the first three episodes, weigh in, and take a look back at the lengthy list of prior attempts to bring astronauts into American living rooms ... or where ever it is we now stream. There's also Random Topics, a round of What's in the Box and a very Barry tribute to a recently passed legend you will want to check out In the October gallery at regularjoes.com. Thanks for listening!

  • Episode 358: Disco Fever
In this time when folks are divided on all sorts of issues it's good to know there are still some things that everybody can agree on, like Star Trek. Or not. This week the regular Regular Joes add Brian Mix to the ... er, mix, to take a first pass at the 3rd season premiere of Star Trek Discovery. Easily the most controversial of the Trek offerings, Discovery returns after having jumped nearly a thousand years beyond the Final Frontier as we know it. Is it a fresh start or more of the same? Between the four of the them the opinions range from optimistic to profound dislike. There's also a round of What's in The Box and the usual round of Random Topics. Thanks for Listening!

  • Episode 357: Are You Shirting Me?
The Boys are Back … no wait, they're gone again. After five short weeks Amazon's surprise hit The Boys wraps up its sophomore season. For those who expected this twisted take on a world were superheroes are real, if often not heroic, could not sustain the first season's level of shock and awe, yup, they did it. And now the wait begins for season three in 2021. Warning if you don't know, for example, that Stormfront is a Nazi, there are SPOILERS. On the B-Side the Regular Joes talk Tee Shirts. The lead in is a round of Shirt Up, one of our reoccurring segments. Then it's onto an oddly far ranging discussion about one of the most embraced and overlooked representations of fandom. The Joes delve into such controversies as hangers vs. folding, and sorting alphabetically vs. by color. You are certain to be on the edge of your seat. There's also the usual random topics. Thanks for listening!
